Forums - Sony - GT5 may become shopto.net's BIGGEST EVER Pre-Order!

UK Retailer Dedicates All Employees to Handle GT5 Orders

Gran Turismo 5 November 20th, 2010 by Jordan

UK retailer ShopTo.net tells INC Gamers they’re bringing in all warehouse employees over the weekend to handle what they’ve described as possibly their “biggest ever pre-order”:

“We are very confident that we can fulfill all orders for release day. All our warehouse staff are coming in over the weekend and working double shifts. [...] Over the weekend they will only be working on GT5.”

If you haven’t pre-ordered the game yet and want to add to ShopTo’s workload (I’m sure they won’t mind!), do it now and you’ll be eligible towin their “Supreme Supercar Experience” giveaway.

I felt it being their "Biggest ever pre-order" was more significant than all staff JUST handling GT5 orders over the weekend.

Either way without ZERO marketing in the UK so far...it seems GT5 will still be huge if shopto is anything to go by (shopto.net had become extremely popular in recent years)...lets hope its a similar scene across retailers in the UK.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

that is so true. I haven't seen anything on TV or elsewhere and it's released next week!

Not bad for a Dead Franchise/Dead genre On a system where exclusives cant possibly outdo their predecessors.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

My guess is that because of the car giveaway, preorders are going to be heavily skewed toward ShopTo. Not to say that other retailers aren't going to be working their butts off too, but I think the prospect of winning a new car sounds pretty good...

I hear ya, but Sony really does need to up the marketing. I'm thinking they will just after launch, but that seems like a lackluster decision. They should be pushing this like Nintendo pushes the next Mario/Microsoft pushes the next Halo.

I still expect an enormous opening in EMEAA first week though.

Maybe they expect GT5 to be a slow burner

I mean I think SONY might amp up marketing in december so GT5 has a steady run to the end of the year

hope it is

this game deserves them

Sony will market this game entire holidays, don't worry

it will be their Gift of the season thing

everybody will be buying it in december

Awesome! I hope more stores are like this to prove the GT skeptics/haters wrong.
