I would be fine with that. ONLY if Microsoft NEVER EVER able to touch the hardware building.

But then it would be too difficult to develop for.

It will only take 10 years to realize its potentials. Surely, you can wait.

Yup, it is.

Actually makes sense.  Didn't MS approach Sony initially about Sony using MS OS, DirextX, etc. and Sony said no?  So MS had to put out their own hardware as a platform for their software.

In the end both Sony and MS want to be in your house, Sony's real focus is hardware and MS's real focus is software and infrastructure, so it's actually not nearly as odd as it sounds.

Sony would deliver HW, they'd work together on infrastructure and MS would supply OS and the console would use DirextX and other MS standards.

Also, both are blowing money trying to defeat the other and worldwide it's essentially a draw at the moment and with Apple and other options for gaming starting to appear I wonder will they really want to keep competing so hard like this?  particularly when their focus on each other is actually letting Nintendo outmanouvere both?

Just imagine the combined library of IP if you had Halo, Gears, Uncharted, God of War, Gran Turismo, etc. on one platform...

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Playbox huh?

Well, we could have already been at that point. It was Sony's own fault that Microsoft's Xbox brand is so strong now. Microsoft actually approached Sony in the PS2 era, to build a joint venture with Sony on the next home console. Sony denied because of their arrogance, MS developed Xbox instead, the reast is history.

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Why does that story sound so familiar?

The original Xbox was waaaaaay more reliable than the PS2, heck you could drop an xbox down a flight of stairs and it would still work perfectly fine. Don't make out Sony are the shit when it comes to HW and Microsoft fail, 1 gen doesn't make up history, remember that.
