Can't speak for the US but apparently in the UK Apple rules the christmas roost.

If you can't get them kinect then get them an apple product.

Tears problem solved.

Nothing to do with console gaming but just in case you live in the Uk and can't get Kinect.

Dude it would be a cold day in hell before I would get my little kid an iphone for christmas...

such an expensive thing to get lost or broken.

Tell me about it, I hope Kinects are still about in the UK next month or else the tears will be mine for having to buy my nephew an iphone...I got his hints.

Truth is I pre-ordered Kinect for him, got it, opened it, decided to keep it.

I can't repackage the Kinect because I threw away packaging. I can see my credit cards having a brutal christmas.

Oh well, they (my sister's side) seem I make a good living...a good living cost more that than most people think....then you throw in my girl friend.

You like talking to yourself?

Edit - Ah, you fixed it right as I was posting.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I call BS. Microsoft predicts 5M by the end of the year. So they have enough stock to sell at least 5M.

Agreed.  They must have enough to ship ~3-4 mil more in the following weeks, so I doubt there's going to be a great shortage.  Plus, something tells me they aren't going to reach the 5 mil mark by the end of this year.  To do so, they would have to sell ~ 900K units every 10 days for rest of the year.  While I think demand for Kinect is going to be high this holiday season, I don't think it will be that high.  Especially with its first week being more weighted with pre-orders.  But, we shall see.

Oh and as far as this goes: "Mattrick went on to claim that he wasn't just cynically trying to spike sales with his prediction."  I think that's exactly what he was trying to do.

I don't see demand for KINECT being THAT huge.

Kinect will in all likelihood remain in short supply through the holidays due to marketing driven hype.

But to state something along the lines of "if you don't order one this week, you won't get one by Christmas!" is really just feeding into that hype.

Obviously, production lines are open and will remain at capacity through the holidays if MS hopes to meet its revised 5m projection. The hype statement above implies the opposite as though production will be taking a one month break, which would imply that MS already has 5m produced and ready to be shipped.

False assumptions on counts one and two.

What increased demand over the holidays means, is the same exact thing it means every year for a high demand product; be there when the shipments arrive. And there will be shipments continually being delivered to retail through the holidays. That is a given fact.

And I fully agree that the statement "Mattrick went on to claim that he wasn't just cynically trying to spike sales with his prediction." is precisely what he's trying to do.

The key word is "Order" not purchase. You need to "Order" it so that you are guaranteed getting one. That doesnt mean you wont find one otherwise, but otdering one this week should guarantee one to be opened under the tree.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

This includes the bundles?

Stealing your nephew's xmas present?  You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch. :)
