I don't remember the PS3 being so close in America earlier this year. This a very interesting find (for me at least). Of course, all of this was before the 360 S was released and pushed that lead to over 1 million units. I'd like to note that God of war 3 could have aided to this accomplishment.
The X360 has a lead of 10million units in America and the PS3 will probably never catch up, butf Can the PS3 possibly outsell the X360 in America next year (or at least the first half)? The PS3 will be riding off of GT5, MOVE, and some high quality exclusives. GT5 isn't that big in America and MOVE isn't really pushing hardware in America. Will Killzone 3 attract the gamers that never heard of Killzone? Same for inFamous? Twisted Metal sold 2million units in America. Will it attract some ex-playstation gamers? What about SOCOM? SOCOM 1 sold 2.5m in America, that's more than God of War. Kinect is a hit in America, no doubt, but will it last to next year? Will Move taje off because of KZ3, inF2, LBP2, etc? How big will 3D be?
Either way, if the PS3 outsells X360 in America or not. It's refreshing to know the PS3 is very healthy in America and still a competitor. The PS3 has sold a total of 3.3million units this year in America. It's currently UP over 500k YOY in NA and that's with the slim launching last year. In 2009, the PS3 sold 4.93million units NA. This year, it should beat that. And next year, it'll probably sell even more.
Either way, it's nice to see that the PS3 is pretty healthy.
