SDick of this size of room myth too.  The average size of a house in Japan is almost identical to the average size of a house in the UK...

Ameicans in particular look at Japanese houses and think wow, they are so small... they are looking at it wrong... it is US houses that are so big.  All European and Far Eastern houses are small in comparison to the US/Canada/Australia.

Figures from the 2003 Housing and Land Survey conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications indicate that Japan had 53,890,900 housing units at the time. Of these, 46,862,900 (86.9%) were occupied and 7,027,900 (13.0%) unoccupied. Of the occupied units, 28,665,900 (61.2%) were owned by the resident household. The average number of rooms per unit of housing was 4.77, the average total floor area in was 94.85 square meters (28.69 tsubo; 1,021.0 sq ft)

This is definitely true - I live in a decent sized house in the UK, but there's no way that I'd be able to make 8 foot distance between the wall and the TV in my house.

you missed my point..   totally.

kinect is selling gangbusters in the Uk... (incidentally I have kinect in my av room -not my living room -  which is a small room and it works very well)... but it wont sell gangbusters in Japan and it has NOTHING to do with the size of homes.

But not everyone who bought a Kinect in the UK will find that their living arrangement is suitable for Kinect regardless of size.  So the same can apply to some Japanese homes.  Kowinicki, you praise everything from Microsoft like it's the second coming, and you make excuses for everything reasonable that does not support your stance.  You're not fooling anyone, man.  So just chill, and stop letting your insecurities co=depend on Microsoft.

Whats wrong with you? stop following me around like a love sick puppy.

Whats your reason why kinect wont do well in Japan... stay on topic for once in you life.

By the way... those boxes still in that store near you?  what!?  you havent been down to check? shame on you.

No more a sick love puppy that's lapping up everything Microsoft throws at him.  Besides, I'm cleaning house today and getting the nursery ready for my newborn for early next year.  Then I'm planning to go to a friend's to celebrate her birthday tonight.  Oh and as much as I'm a Nintendo fan, I bought her a plush sackboy because she enjoys Little Big Planet because I respect people's gaming preferences.  And then I have a Sunday School lesson to review for my class tomorrow.  I have such a life.  Shame on me!!!

:)

P.S.  Hey, don't you have some articles to write.

Have a good time at your party... relax.  I respect gaming preferences... show me where I havent respected others preferneces.  Show me where I go into Ninty or Sony threads to cause trouble or say the system is poor or the system/games are porr or lacking in sales.  After that take a look in the mirror, you have done nothing but troll the kinect for the last few months.

Really???  How?  I did congratulate the success of Kinect and the increase of 360 sales.  How did I troll?  You mean those pictures I posted?  Do you really want to go there?  Think carefully before you do.

Well.. I personally think it'll struggle to break 10k, referencing to the Move sales and the indifference to the MS brand as a whole, I am yet to experience Kinect myself, so can't comment whether it is as a revolutionary piece of kit as many claim it to be.

I understand his annoyance at you, he came up with something that completely crushes the "Japan won't buy Kinect because of floor space" myth and all you can come up with is

"But not everyone who bought a Kinect in the UK will find that their living arrangement is suitable for Kinect regardless of size.  So the same can apply to some Japanese homes."

The vast majority will so the same can be said for Japan.

There was no need to jump on Kowen who made a very valid point, just for the fact you have nothing to refute it with ..

~10k is way too generous.

I had to select ~10k since ~none wasn't an option.  With how small the living space is in that country, you would be retarded to get it.  Not tomention the abysmal 360 interest there...

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

Eddie, someone had dispersed the "Living Space" myth earlier in the thread. I think it's just the hate for all things American that will make the console sell under par, and taking into account that even Move didn't launch that well.. Things begin to look doom and gloom.

I guess the tens of thousands that bought it in the UK this week were retarded too then

I think it will do surprisingly well since the pet, dance and video game fitness markets are huge in Japan.

Kinect will finally allow Microsoft to break-through in Japan.  You can see through the TGS titles announced for Kinect that this is a big deal to the Japanese.

Thanks Kowen for dispelling the size myth it had been annoying me for a while. I looked it up on the Wiki pages but did not find anything very useful. I was hoping for one of our Japanese members to comment on the WHOLE of Japan rather than this Western idea that everybody in Japan lives in some sort of shoebox which seems to stem from images of pod hotels in Tokyo.

I did find something interesting though and that is the Japanese use space differently and the process of moving stuff out of the way is actually second nature so it may be come as a suprise to some when the Japanese purchase Kinect.

I will say though that despite the fact it would sell like hotcakes if by any other supplier it will still be lacklustre in Japan which is a shame.
