Forums - Sony - LittleBigPlanet demo canceled

For those who are interested in LBP, SCEA just confirmed (courtesy of Kotaku) that the Fall 07 demo will not be hitting.  As for plans of a demo at all?  Unspecified.

""I can officially confirm that there won't be a demo this year," Ron Eagle, senior manager of PR for Sony Computer Entertainment America told me."

No confirmed release date but I don't think there was one to begin with anyway.

My prediction for YEARS END:

WII - 18.3 Million

Xbox 360 - 15 Million

Playstation 3 - 8.5 Million

Well the game is highly based on user generated content. So you gotta wonder if a demo would be a good idea in the first place. Releasing a demo with limited options might actually hurt sales instead of help them.

Demos arn't always a good thing... even for good games.

I don't think demos can be a bad thing (assuming the game itself isn't bad). I really wish the wii had a strong demo presence. There'll be so many games that I would like to try and am unlikely to buy.

The demo is only axed for this year, I am sure we will get a beta before release next year.

seriously this is the whole PS3 world that has problem to live
everything is late or delayed whatever these things are 3rd/2nd/1st party or sony themselve.

all was pushed back to 2008

It is like Sony was late since the beginning but they didnt want to say it, so they decided to lie to keep the hype up ...

Time to Work !

Well think of it this way.  Say you've got a game like "Fighter Maker" but it doesn't suck... and the fighting mode is pretty decent, but the real fun is that you can create new fighting moves... and the game plays differently after you create these new fighting moves as the gameplay completly changes.

If you realease a demo with the editing tools, there is little to no reason to buy the game.  If you release the game without the tools, you've basically released a shallow fighting game that doesn't really show you the full aspects of the game, release something inbetween and you may stll give a lesser impression of the game.

I'm not making any claims here, but it wouldn't be unheard of for a game like this to end up losing a demo (and seeing delays) because there are problems with the game ... I'm not entirely familiar with everything that can be done in LBP, but a large portion of the game seems to be based on non-deterministic content using physics which could be very error prone (you're suddenly stuck) or simply not fun after awhile.

They should made a demo of Z&W and NMH pretty sure people would bought it more.

I sense another commercial failure for a PS3 game.
