he got really annoyed, not only he bashed the numbers, but he also went further with the "no source or science behind the numbers". I wonder if he was
the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!
Huh, even though vgchartz has been reporting on MS hardware and software for years, and is well known in the industry, this is the first time they've ever attempted to discredit them. And it happens at the time when vgchartz is now the ONLY independent, public source of info on video game sales figures in the US market.
Why haven't MS revealed numbers for Kinect yet? They were able to give us 24 hour sellthrough data for Halo 3 and revenue for Halo Reach, Kinect is even more important than those. Maybe in a day or two they'll give us data for the first full week on sale, if not then they will have been very tight on actual sales info.
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Ooooohhh…I’m hurt…I'm chuckling and cackling too hard as I type! BTW, Foxnews of gaming, aka N4G is blasting the story: Also some other interesting stories like this: Microsoft: "We've no plans for another Xbox" and Octopus: Move will outsell Kinect at Xmas and CoD: Black Ops - Best 3D Experience only on PS3, says Treyarch
But nothing about this technical report: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-call-of-duty-black-ops-faceoff But I can’t figure out why Greenberg reacts as he does to the internet…what a jerk! |
This article (Eurogamer) was posted in N4G yesterday morning.

He recently said that 360 sales were over 45mil, so it could be partly that and the inital kinect sales, which are probabily a lot more than what vgchartz has reported if thats the case.
or it could just be that hes pissed that PS3 has been outselling both 360 for the last few weeks and is trying to discredit them because theres no source behind those numbers - although we know to an extent these numbers are calculated and adjusted from the 3 companies quarterly report's.
so i'm not sure what hes 'lol' ing at - i think when we see the next sales update we'll understand WTF is going on.

Oh, no. Heruamon is actually Greenburg!!!
Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

Anyone daring to suggest sales below 500K *Shock Horror!* even if it's only for the first couple 'o days might peev them a bit, because they want to manage sales info and for the first announcement of sales to be in the millions. The merest hint that there's a sub-million sales number out in the wild could be perceived as negative press for Kinect (even though it's not), in which case maybe it needs a low key rebuff through something like Twitter. And rebuffing in a way that also dismisses or discredits the source of the offending data helps to marginalise the reported number. |
The idea that the sales are inaccurate make more sense as a motivator for me. They have real time data on Kinect activations so it isn't that hard for them to know with even more certainty than NPD how many Kinects are in use at the present time.
Tease.
Did I really see some vgc user calling Greenberg a troll? Really? That could be the dumbest thing I've ever read. GJ whoever you were. :D

Why would any company be obliged to tell people here - or on any website - the number of gadgets they sell? Notice that Sony never commented on the Move numbers (which are way too low here, or no longer comments on NPD numbers which seems to piss off a lot of people here). Learn to live with it and hope the numbers given here are anywhere near the real numbers. I think MS/Sony/Nintendo have better things to do right now (or ever) than to correct numbers on websites.
