LOL @ The VGC defense force! :D

But if you present yourself as a sales tracking site and your numbers are off, you're going to get slapped around. I mean, you can call it a guesstimate website or whatever, but all of the articles on this site tend to be "it sold" rather than "we estimate X sold based on". And i think that's what people pick up on. I dont think a whole lot of people actively tries to find the method of how VGC works. They just see the numbers posted on different news sites, and when the official numbers comes in and VGC has to adjust by the millions, it looks bad.

What people dont seem to understand here, is that while this site is obviously very popular with users here, this site is considered a joke and laughed at by everybody else and not respected at all by other sites because they all think VGchartz just make up the numbers.

Which to be fair most of the time they do.

Not surprised. The guys an ass. The thing is, i usually excuse it because its his job to spin and say silly things along company lines. This just points to what we all suspected, hes a douchbag.

Look at it this way:

VGC makes educated guesses. They aren't perfect, but they are very good. In fact, so good are they, that they are often more accurate than 90% of other trackers. VGC also does this for a very low cost, hell, a few months ago, they did it FOR FREE. Do you know how much NPD charges for their data, and do you know that they also use guesstimates and that perfect tracking is impossible due to small business?

Lemme put it in a way you might more understand. NPD is a ps3 at launch, and VGC is a wii at launch. Everyone mocks VGC... but really, VGC holds its own against the big boys.
