All of the long range weather models are currently zeroing in on the potential of a once-in a generation Nor'Easter/Superstorm forming over the South, and bring 6+ inches of snow to Maine to Virginia to Arkansas back toward the South West. 40 million people could see 6+ inches of snow from this, and 80 million+ will be impacted
Accompanying the storm will be severe thunderstorms, with hail, torrential rain, tornadic activity, flooding, and amazing wind, as the storm bombs out.
Weather forecasters at www.nws.noaa.gov are already referring to the storm as a once in a 20 year type event, to be categorized with the greatest of Nor'Easters, such as the Blizzard of 1996, both President's Day Storms, and The March 1993 Superstorm.
In terms of impact, the entire country east of the Mississippi will be impacted either directly or indirectly from the strength of the storm.
I'm quite excited. Shame I'll be home by then...my university will get 18 inches of snow and 40 mph sustained winds out of this, probably with lots of thunder and lightning.
