Vgc undertracked this by A LOT. There is no other reason to lol.

So from first glances on the HD twins entry into motion controls, it looks like Kinect is a breakthrough and Move is a bust. I think its partly due to the fact that most people see the Move as "another Wii" and Kinect as something unique.

I'll be the first to admit I want to jump hurdles with Kinect in my living room!

500 million marketing = 500 unit sold

not good :(

500k Kinects sold...That's $75 million in hardware sales alone in 2 days, not including what they made from the increase in 360 console sales or software, and that $500 mil for marketing wasn't just for launch. It's gonna be spent throughout the entire holiday season. I'd say MS is fine with the results so far.

Well they aren't :P They're at the denial stage of mourning http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=119367&page=2&str=435143490#35

Make no mistake, Kinect fizzeled.

500K isn't that steller of an opening. Esspecially considering how much advertising was spent on Kinect. 500 million on advertising. Remember that isn't even a product cost. This means there will be more fun on thier income statement when we take into consideration CGS.

Kinect really needed to be a blow out. The only hope it has is word of mouth, but seeing as how the device is not up to par, I suspect that the word of mouth will decrease sales.

People will think I'm crazy, but Kinect will burn the Microsoft Game Division to the ground. Sony was able to just brush Move to the side. Microsoft wont be able to hide the huge losses, and investors wont put up with the silly games anymore.

^^^  Like I said...not too far off from the N4G...lol.

wow!

Kinect is 'like a G-6'

I guess I'll have to join the flame target list!  Those numbers are a good opening as a peripherial for sure, but less than I was expecting based on MS own statements and raising of their targets.  With the push in US and the hype I was expecting a bigger initial purchase level than that,

But... it is expensive and the holiday's are coming so these numbers might be the beginning of a sustained period of strong selling, which would then see MS be on target.

Also... initial Move estimates turned out to be low so it may be Kinect is also a bit low.

So, a very good launch as a peripheral, but not looking like a new console launch yet - saleswise vs marketing - for me.  Likewise the actual purchased games are decent, but nothing amazing in their own right.  But maybe I actually took MS too much at their word as to the initial impact Kinect would have.

Anyway, like Move I'm going to treat the numbers with a grain of salt until more sources emerge and I see how the site settles on a final estimates.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

If it "sustained" these sales it'd hit 5 million in America alone by the end of the year!

"not looking like a new console launch yet" you need to go back and look at console launch's, they never that high. This has beat PS3 and 360 and will be just under par with Wii.
