Forums - Microsoft - DEADLY PREMONITION - why havent you bought it yet?

Hm, well, that's what cigarettes do irl too, so it makes sense.

Sounds like they should have put it on one of the handhelds, a la Dusk Hotel. Could have kept the good story and characters, and improved the production values.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Just finish my first play through this after noon and i can honestly say the story gets better and better. So many bizarre twists and turns. One of the most enjoyable video game stories i've experienced in quite a while.

well my problem with the game was the world itself.  traversing the world and using the map are a pain.  i completely lost interest shortly after being let loose in the world.

I'd recommend completing georges side quest as early as possible so that you obtain the radio. Once you have this you can fast travel to all previously visited destinations and makes everything a lot easier.

no it have got pretty bad reviews

Based on the F K in the coffee scene, I bought the game.  I am not into these games, but did.  I also ALMOST got rid of it, but the dialog had me keep it.  And I do want to try a Sinner's Sammich in real life.  I think corn flakes would go well.  As for why I am NOT playing it?  Well, backlog of games I guess.  And maybe Deadly shows why Alan Wake decided to drop the sandbox mode, because it ended up distracting from the rest of the game.  Deadly will likely stay in my game collection with Earth Defense Force.

I've had my eye on Deadly Premonition since it's release but I've put off getting to it due to other distractions. After I beat Persona 3 Portable (50 hours and counting. Still not done) I'm going to put Deadly Premonition as #1 on my rental queue. Game looks downright hilarious. It's like a survival horror version of a Suda51 game. I have a feeling that I'm not going to like the gameplay and that's a big issue. If the gameplay is intolerable, I'll go watch the playthroughs on youtube if I absolutely need to see the story to its conclusion. Given that GameSpot of all critics gave the game a 7/10 (and you'd normally expect GameSpot to shit on a game like this), the controls and map can't be as bad as it sounds so I'm optimistic. They shit on the controls and the map but they felt the game's positive qualities were strong enough to warrant a 7 overall.

I just looked at the sales. I never imagined that this game would surpass 100k copies sold in Americas. It sold so poorly at first (13k week 1) and I thought this was going to be a huge flop. But this isn't unusual for niche games. They tend to be a lot less front-loaded and a lot more word-of-mouth driven.

Still, this game was $20 right from the start so you'd expect sales to be better. But then again, when gamers see that a new game is priced at $20, many of them are going to assume that it's shovelware. And the sub-standard critical ratings (68 on metacritic, 3/10 by IGN! Remember, in the videogame critic world, the average is in the low 70s) probably turned off a lot of gamers.

The game is amazing, it has some major flaws, mainly in surrounding graphics, but for a low budget game and for the low price you are getting one of the best stories you've played in your life.

If you like Twin Peaks, Silent Hill and Alan Wake this game is for you, if not stay away.

More than 20 hours of gameplay to finish it, and a lot more if you want to complete everything, buy it now.
