Wii boxing vs Kinect boxing. Which do you prefer?

Tonight I was able to get my hands on Kinect, so to speak.  It's always going to be a casual piece of equipment, but there's nothing wrong with that.  One of the games I was able to play was boxing on Kinect sports.  This was my most anticipated game on kinect sports to play since Wii Boxing was my favorite from Wii sports.

As soon as the match began, I tried to tilt left, tilt right, go for a few jabs...techniques I had learned from prior experience.  Sadly this failed.  Then, I decided to screw technique and unleash a fury of punches. That worked quite a bit better. Overall I had fun with it, but I couldn't help comparing it to Wii boxing.  If I had to choose, I'd say Wii boxing>Kinect Boxing.

Certainly the aspect of kinect have greater lag effected the gameplay, but not to a great deal.  It's one thing to detect an arm waving around, or a running motion, but when you sting like a bee...more accurate detection helps.

I also thought the psuedo third person allowed for greater clearity amidst the action.  You were able to functionally plan your execution of your opponent, instead of throwing random punches that might be detected.  When I would go for a mid section blow, it was not clear if I had thrown a punch.

In a nutshell my experience with wii boxing 4 years back felt more intuitive and functional.

Of course I did skip the tutorial, so maybe that would have helped :D  I realize more experience with Kinect might allow me to conjer up greater technique.  Perhaps I was missing the nuances of the game.  However on face value I say Wii>Kinect.

For those who have played Wii Boxing(almost everyone) AND Kinect Boxing, what do you think? Was your experience about the same, or did you find Kinect Boxing more enjoyable?

P.S. I don't care what you think of the Wii or Kinect as a whole. Stay on topic!!

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

Really?

I truly thought boxing would be Kinect's killer app. Maybe it's just some lousy game design.

I shall bless with my wisdom the first one who makes a comparison video for this 2 games u_u

One thing I've noticed is that Kinect needs to be setup in a good way in order to work properly, or at least a little better. Did you play at a friend's house?

I haven't tried Kinect Sports yet, but I shall post back here once I get my hands on it.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

There was an event at my dorm complex.  From what I could tell situations were just about ideal; lots of room, well lit, giant TV, etc.  My clothes were even a different color than the couch in the background.

Perhaps this was too soon of a post seeing as many people probably have not experienced it(especially vgchartz users who are dominantly PS3/Ninty and not casual).

Punch Out

Wii sports boxing does not track your punches correctly and kinect does that. Throw a hook to the liver in WB and your mii propably throws a straight punch... Neither of them care about your stance so it is pretty much who swings his/her hands faster.

Both are pretty bad but Kinect boxing is the slightly better one. I'll just wish someone would make a good boxing game for kinect.

Actually those games should not be called boxing, maybe kids backyard fistfighting would be more accurate name.

So true. Wii Boxing is very lame.

Everything else in Wii Sports is great but Boxing. It's just about who can wiggle their wiimotes the fastest.
