Forums - Sony - So The Fight: Lights Out has 47 Metascore. IGN is still wrong?

Wrong questions, if you want to know if it's Sony first party you have to ask does Sony own the studio?

It doesn't actually matter who owns the IP and funds the project.

Where do we draw a line on 1st party?

I mean Microsoft didn't own Bungie. So those aren't 1st party games?

I don't believe those Mario Party games were developed by Nintendo either.

1st party games are those developed indoors, I think.

Nintendo IP outsourced to other companies could be classified as 2nd party???

They published it in the same way that Microsoft published Ninety Nine Nights and Too Human. I can't find any info on if they own the IP or if they funded the project or not.

Well if Sony owns the IP than its 1st party. Unless we confirm they don't I'll just keep assuming its 1st party.

For the record, MS owns Ninety Nine Nights.

Sony owns the Resistance IP, but Insomniac are second party. You have to own the studio for the the game to be first party.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

I'm settling with 2nd party.

Hence, I would expect better from an exclusive game funded by Sony and an IP potentially owned by Sony.

This is Lair all over again, although I don't care much about this game.

I just took a quick look at Lair on Metacritic. Score 53 because of the control scheme, which is the biggest amount of misinformation about a game I know.

This might be the same.

NO IT WAS NOT BASHING ON IGN LOLS The fight may not be brilliant, but it's not rubbish either according iwaggle which i trust more than most reviewers he thought it was an ok game, and i trust he because he is so thorough with his testing, the IGN review may as well never been written it was very ignorant and was full of false information, imo the reviewer should be sacked, you need to play a game for longer than half an hour to get a good view of a game

Its at 50 now after 1 more review.

Update the OP it's 50 now and that's because Metacritic does a weighted average, where more important publications count more. IGN counts a lot and that damaged The Fight score especially with a low number of reviews. From now on, it can only rise.

People have gone rampant over the review of the Move enabled The Fight Lights Out by IGN, which got a 3/10

"The finished product is a mess that is not only frustrating to play -- it is also tiring and boring."

Basically people said this was a case of ignorance by part of the IGN reviewer and instantly pointed out iWaggle review as a fair review, which doesn't even qualify for metacritic rankings.

So far, there's 8 reviews for the title

http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/the-fight-lights-out/critic-reviews

And the metascore is at 47.

I think its pretty much confirmed this game sucks, you guys shouldn't bash IGN like that, and you should know as well how to admit when a game just doesn't live up for its hype and ends up being a total mess.

This game had hype????????????????????????

Woah woah, lets not go nuts here, even monkeys at typewriters have to get something right eventually. IGN are still bad even if they were correct this one time.

We don't draw the line, the industry does.

1st party - software developed by part of the company that manufactures hardware.

3rd party - software developed by a company not owned by the hardware manufacturer.

3rd party games can still be published by the hardware manufacturer.

Some people like to distinguish 2nd party, which would be a 3rd party developer who essentially have a an exclusive agreement with the hardware manufacturer. Hal Laboratories is sometimes considered a 2nd party, but it is wholly owned by Nintendo making them a first party or a subsidiary.

Microsoft did own Bungie up until shortly after Halo 3. All the Halo titles prior were 1st party, and those after were 3rd party published by Microsoft.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
