Forums - Nintendo - Is the 3DS mimicking home console gaming too much?

as for fighting games PSP craps all over DS. Soul Calibur, Tekken 5&6, Street Fighter Alpha3, BlazBlue, Mortal Kombat, Darkstalkers, Fate unlimited codes, Guilty Gear not to mention the PS1 classics you can import. Now im a fighting fanatic and the only fighter to really impress me on DS is the Bleach games. Now if you can recommend me some good fighters on DS ill be happy to look into those but, until 3DS comes out i think Sony has that genre covered

This has always been the biggest failing of the DS imo, and something I could never really understand.  I mean, DS can even emulate arcade systems NeoGeo and CPS2, where the hell were the 2D fighters?

Thankfully 3DS seems to be turning this around off the bat with stuff like SSF4 and DOA Dimensions.  Hopefully there's a lot more to come after that (Blazblu 2, MVC3, TTT2, VF5 FS, KOF XIII, SSB, etc).

You forgot SC.

If you made that statement about the PSP, I think you may have a point.  However, about the 3DS?  Not at all.

I would add also racing games, I don't know any good racer on DS aside for MarioKart...and atm I don't see any of them on 3DS too (except for the ritual RidgeRacer launch game), I hope this will  also change.

Errr, Konami is developing a racing game for the 3DS. Also, EA is releasing a football Madden game on it too.

PSP Go is the one of the best console for this reason....

The PSP Go is a handheld AND home console.  When i go out, on a bus or waiting somewhere, i pull out my PSP Go and i play MGS PW.  When i get back home and want to enjoy that home console feeling, I hook up my PSP Go to my TV and play sitting back on the couch using the PS3 DS3 controller via bluetooth, and continue where i left off.

...all consoles should just follow this example in the future, but maybe they dont just to make more money of course.  Of course when playing on the PSP Go via TV, its not the sharpest or doesnt take up the full screen of the TV but im sure Sony could find a way if they really wanted to and make it work.

As well this would eliminate the differential in 'portable games' and 'home console games'.  It all unites!

Isnt that what a handheld is a portable console

well alot of 3DS games are ports of old console games so...

No. DS vs PSP has proven that

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

@thekitchensink oh I wasnt trying to imply that the DS doesnt have some of those games, just wish they had a little more, your spot on in your DS/PSP comparisions
