Forums - General - Is this sentance harsh enough?

Of course serial killers can't be rehabilitated, just like most pedophiles cannot. It's a mental illness that doesn't just go away.

With that said, what percentage of criminals have mental illnesses that cannot be fixed? It's a mighty small percentage.

I just hate criminals so much. They have shit lives so instead of doing something productive like working or volunteering they have to go ruin other people's lives.

And I don't fully agree rehabilitation works. I'm sure it does in some cases but I don't think a crazy ass serial killer or a drugged up murderer can be rehabilitated at all.

This is a reason why a criminal's motives should be taken into consideration when establishing punishment.

How else would you define hate crime?

If it's a violent offense against a stranger, how is it NOT a hate crime? With that in mind, what is the point of a hate crime? Why do some groups receive preferential treatment over others? Why don't we just punish them based on the offense instead of the intended target?


Apperantly its not a hate crime when you attack white middle aged straight men. Remember, they dont get to complain.

by mad i mean really angry and he hates me enough to attack me. you dont just attack someone because you like him. you aussault someone because you hate him. Not just because you think ''im bored, and that guy there annoys me, im gonna break his skull now, simply because''.  Every type of violence is a product of hate, and just because someone attacked a gay person he shouldnt get a higher sentence because the person is gay. Are their health and lives more valueable than anyone elses?

But if the person attacks the white middle aged guy simply because he hates him, thats not a hate crime and the guy should get a smaller sentence, right?

This is a reason why a criminal's motives should be taken into consideration when establishing punishment.

I agree that motive is a big factor.
