Forums - Gaming - N64 GoldenEye or Wii GoldenEye?

My roommate became addicted to Wii Goldeneye...he couldn't stop playing it until he had beaten the single player campaign. I'm still working my way through it.

Bah!

Honestly the N64 is better. The Wii version looks better but I liked the levels design better on N64. Not to mention you could snipe almost everyone on the dam and on other parts of the game where now  you cant. =( But it is a dam fun game =)

Kinda prefer the N64 version for the multiplayer. The weapons aren't scattered throughout the level in the Wii version so you have to keep changing during a match. The level design was better in the N64 version as well imo. Plus where the fuck is Borris? That guy was the epitome of cool!

I actually have not tried the multiplayer yet for the Wii. I am looking forward to it, though!

Bah!

I too think the games can't really be compared.

For the following reasons:

- Games in the past relied more on level design to make them fun.

- Games of today rely on cinematics to make the game better.

So when you look at the two versions one has great level design were as the other tried to be closer to the movie e.g on the dam when bond is behind the bombs and the Russians shoot at him and then like in the movie one of them gets shot for being trigger happy.

So to answer your question I probably prefer the N64 version purely because I grew up with it. However the Wii version is by all means a great game in itself. I think a lot of complaints I have had from mates is that Daniel Craig is in it lol.

Well, unfortunately I never had the opportunity to play the N64 version.  So, with that said I will have to say that I prefer the Wii version.

N64 one certainly wins in terms of music

I almost wonder if they won't make up the Goldeneye N64 soundtrack and release some sort of patch to get it running on the Wii version. I mean an unofficial homebrew patch, like the fan-translations

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

If I MUST choose I would have to say N64 Goldeneye.  It's only because of the hundreds of hours spent in multiplayer.  I'm only about 1/2 through the Wii campaign and loving it, so maybe my mind will change.  We'll see when I get some friends over to do some split-screen.  Both are great games for different reasons in my mind.

One thing I like about the Wii Goldeneye that couldn't be done on the N64 version (because of regenerating health) is charging at enemies and introducing them to the butt end of my gun.  Awesome!
