Both probably. If Microsoft actually claimed it, I'd bet the figure is pretty close, maybe inflated by 5-10%. It could also include the week of sales ending December 8/9 which has yet to posted.

Thats true the the latest week of american sales havent been posted but i doubt ME made a 300k+ rebound. Who knows. And yojimbo this topic wasnt so much to talk about ME persae but to talk about it being undertracked and possibly other games being undertracked as well. Possibly uncharted? I too am sick with all the ME threads and we can thank eugene for that but i wanted to talk about it being undertracked.
@ dabaus513
It's "per se", not "persae". Sorry, that annoyed me.
OT: Why do we believe that ME has sold a million copies? Everything MS says doesn't mean it's true. Maybe that was reatiler orders? Let's not bank too much on what they're saying.
We know from history that Sony and Microsoft like to be dirty and word things as much for their benefit as possible, no matter how misleading it is - ESPECIALLY Microsoft.
I wouldn't put much weight on it. I DO think maybe we undertracked, but not much.

Can we create one more topic about this please cause now there are only THREE!!!!

There are already TWO threads on this exact bit of news (and neither one was started by eugene) regarding Mass Effect selling 1 million. And they're in the Sales forum and the Microsoft forum, both of which make a lot more sense for this than the Gaming forum.
Next time, do a search.
We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai
It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps
We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

dabaus said he didn't want to talk about the million sold but the fact that it is being undertracked.
Next time, read his post.
I think they mean shipped, not 1 million in the hands of consumers.
