Being on this site, i am of course a gamer, but i'm also a TV guy to a great degree, I loves my TV, and I loves me some Japanese anime and select J-dramas (streamed here in the states), but i'm going to Japan next semester, and i wish to take my television

Now this isn't a question of "should" i as in "it's a bad idea to take it with you on a plane, etc." but rather a question of "should" i from a personal growth perspective.

My mother is the primary foe of this, saying that "you're not going to Japan to watch TV," which is a partial misunderstanding. Of course i'm not going to Japan to just sit around and watch TV all day, but i damn well am going to Japan to get a taste of Japanese culture, which includes television that i've enjoyed. So the question then becomes "well just use the TV in the dorm," but then it becomes an issue of sharing, which i'll admit i have problems with when it comes to TV, especially if i'm sharing the TV with sports fans and there's something better on.

My only opposition to "renting one there," is that I will definitely have to pay money for that, whereas if i bring my own, i only "might" have to pay money, if i damage or destroy it in the process.

I discussed this with my roommates here, and they all looked at me like i was sprouting turnips out of my ears, giving similar arguments as my mother

I'm just pop-polling the VGC community to see if this opinion that i'm crazy is more universal than just my mom and my roommates

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Around the Network

Well I was there for 2 months studying. and didn't watch TV or play videogames hardly at all. I lived in a Seminar House and with Hosts Family... and only watched a little TV.

I say don't, I mean... I was too busy/running around japan to watch more TV that on my computer or at my friends house. And it was one of the most fun things I've done in my life.

But you're there longer than I was. I mean... I say no, but as long as you are sane about the amount of time you watch. Then it doesn't matter.
