Five, with sigurd - I believe thats genealogy of the holy war but I'm not positive

You're thinking of 4, I believe - that's Genealogy of the Holy War. Thracia 779 (or 776, I forget) was the fifth game, and it's difficulty is often described as Apocalyptic.

776, from my recollection. 4 bears an odd similiraty to FF6

I never played 7 or 8, only 9, 10, and 11 (same as 1), and i definitely favor 10 from the lot. That's what disappoints me that they went with a remake of 2 for FE12 instead of putting the FE team on a ground-up Wii game. 10, moreso than 9, had an epic scale that showed where this series could really go if a full-scale Wii game were built. Also because the game would benefit greatly from pointer controls (much as it benefited from stylus controls in 11 and 12)

You gotta find a way to play 6, Mr Khan.

Hrm... tricky, but I'll say Radiant Dawn. Path of Radiance was an excellent game, even if there were parts of it that were too easy. Radiant Dawn expanded on this brilliance, and made it a touch harder, without feeling impossible. (Mind you, I play the FE games on hard.) This isn't to berate the others, though, as they're all good games. Heck, there's a reason I've been importing them...

Damn this new keyboard! I meant 7.

But yes, there are translation patches for 6 that are both easy to find and apply.

The first one on GBA with Elwood and Lyn in it. It's just called Fire Emblem, dunno it's Japanese name?

That was actually the second one on the GBA, it was a prequel to the first one on the GBA

Blazing Sword.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Radiant Dawn, because it's probably the longest game and definitely the one that offers the most and most interesting choices.

Second step available even after attacks, shoving, the ability to freely transfer skills between characters, bonus experience, crossbows, drastically increased importance of special effects of weapons, weapons and staves can be stolen by thieves, characters going through three classes, shops accessible from the base menu.

The only good feature from another FE missing in Radiant Dawn that I can think of is the ability to fuse weapons of the same kind in the base menu (Shadow Dragon).

Have you played the good old GBA and SNES Fire emblems? They are way better mainly because the difficulty isn't lol but also the story and characters too.

Oh God somebody asked about Rol's FIre Emblem experience

RUN.

I meant in the West. The one with Roy in it never came out here.
