Forums - Sony Discussion - Dark Mist (Japan PS Store)- Get this game!

Where do I start? It's an dungeon crawler/top down old school shoot 'em up, from Game Republic (makers of Folklore and Genji). Instead of riding a ship or being some dude with a gun like other shooters, you are a little angel girl with some kind of magical bow as a weapon; Even more interesting is that the levels are these room to room dungeons that you basically move through, clearing enemies and picking up what they drop (lives, keys, multipliers). The name of the game comes from this purple mist that fills parts of rooms (or whole rooms) where you can't see enemies and where you lose most of your vision if you walk into the fog. Some rooms have specific bigger enemies that you must kill to clear the room of mist, at the end of each dungeon is a miniboss. After a few stages, you get a boss stage (big boss). You have two types of normal attacks: one is the normall stuff you shoot, the other is a limited burst attack that has a cooldown. You have 3 bomb type attacks that you have limited number of uses..

for. You have 3 lives to game over but you can get extra lives (usually from bosses).

Don't expect a hardcore old school shooter, it's easier. There are only twelve stages to beat so completing a full game shouldn't take long if you survive. The longevity of the game comes from trying to get the highest score possible. The longer you survive on one life, the higher the multiplier. Using the special bomb attacks also reduces score each time.

The game looks fantastic and I don't mean it has crazy graphics. The style is very simple but beautiful. It plays like no other shoot 'em up ever and it's easy enough for ppl who don't play this type of game to try it.

Other than Everyday Shooter and Super Stardust HD, this has to be the best downloadable game on PS3. The music is great, sounds like 16 bit era music done with current sound (especially boss music).

Highly recommend this to shmup and non-shmup fans alike. Really hope (but doubt) they bring this to US/EU.
