Guess if they are going to count this toward the 5 million sales expectation.

IT's approximately 4K units I think (from the release).  AND it took exactly 2 responses to try to change a positive 360 post into a negative. HAHA.

It's great that these kids are getting a free console.  It really is.  But this is not generosity from Microsoft.  It's PR, and everyone knows it.  Let's not fool ourselves by bending over forwards for a company (and any company for that matter) that always looks at their bottom dollar before caring for the unfortunate.

Sorry, but who suggested it was an altruistic move by Microsoft?  Not me.

Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are all FOR PROFIT companies.  NOTHING any of them do is without regard to the bottom line.

Perhaps we should try not bending over backwards to highlight the crap in something either, hmmm?

Then you agree that there was nothing wrong with Bueli2's statement?  Then don't be throwing the first stone.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

They'll just get broken quickly or stolen.

You are barking up the wrong tree kid, I threw no stones.  I simply pointed out that the sole intention of bueli2's statement was to cast a negative light on a positive 360 thread.

You can try turning my words or this thread around anyway you want to, I will take no further part in it, thanks, but no thanks.

Just curious but will these thousands of Kinect given away along with the ones given away for on Oprah and Ellen DeGeneres will be counted towards Kinect's "first day sale"? or they wont count these at all since its not really the release day?  Not sure how the business tracking works.

This is a great jesture and to all of you fortunate enough to have good parents or atleast get nice stuff, you need to chill out. These kids grow up in area's where you would be chop liver. I grew up around chicago in a gang infested neighborhood.  I know from experience what poor is all about.

So doing something like this should be done more ofter no matter what it is intended to do. PR whatever.

I love how all the haters come out and start running the mouth even when something nice is done.

I can see some of your true colors coming out, damn N4G is starting to spill over into VGCHARTZ.

Around the Network

It's a nice gesture.  Sure, it has marketing & PR all over it, too.  But that doesn't change the fact it's a nice gesture as well.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Did you even read the article? lol

That's why they donated $150 million to the boys and girls club previously? Do you not think Mark Wahlberg might have been a big part of it himself?

Large corporations are always donating to charities. I can't believe you guys don't think that any corporation ever donates a percentage of its profits  to charity ever. 4000 xboxes is basically nothing, barely $1 million. They have donated way more computers and software to schools/charities/3rd world than you know about, this is just a tiny itty bitty part of their philanthropy. Yes, a corporation's job is to make money first and foremost, but once you become large, you also have a responsibility to be ethical and charitible if you want to keep investors and business partners. Nobody wants to be associated with a sleazebag.

unreal...

this is an act of generosity and smart marketing at the same time

really is about time the mods got a grip of this constant Kinect bashing and trolling.  it takes less than a few minutes in every kinect thread for a troll, numerous trolls, to take up residence.

yea lately i do more reporting than posting and i feel like its and endless battle. so hard to keep any kinect thread positive no matter what the news is. hopefully now that its launched and people can review and try it some of it will die down but i fear if it sells well the problems will get worse. i wont be left with a gaming forum to come too

My words!

I don't get the Kinect hate. Look MS does something noble like the news said and still there is trolling. Sometime MS is to greedy, then they are spending too much money on marketing like it would be unfair or something, and now it is wrong to donate money. Anything Kinect related is bad. Mods need to get back in shape, it is getting out of control.

OT: I recommend you to listen to the MajorNelson podcast. There are numerous things MS does for charity. You hear this quite frequently, without a big press release or something.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
