Forums - Nintendo - hmmh.. Should i buy a Wii now?

Okay, srsly.

Today, i went shopping with a friend after a long time not seeing him, and we talked about this.. and that.. and then i noticed the 25th anniversary Version of the Wii. i knew before, that this thingy is available, but i never cared...

but for any reason, it smiled on me.. kinda hypnotic, i tell you! i DIDNT buy it, because..

- i had a Wii, it was the first 'next gen' Console i had in general, and of course i bought it on launch day. But it just didnt keep me entertained, and the main reason for that was, that the graphics were crap compared to HD Consoles, and besides Zelda, there wasnt any game i wanted. (to be honest: i couldnt care less for games like galaxy 2.  Mario 64 was AMAZING, aswell as Sunshine. but i HATE the combination of the Words 'Peach', 'Bowser' and 'Kidnapped'. dunno why, but it is as it is, it simply turned out to be like that after repeadingly freeing that unthankful b*tch.)

So yeah, i sold it for PS360.

Okay, jumping back to the shiny, red Wii i saw today. i really thought about just buying it today, but i didnt, because my main thought was like 'dood, you just dont need it right now. even if you want it.'

So yeah, i dont need, but STILL WANT it, for gods fggn sake. the only thing i may feel bad about, is, that i know that the Hardware i'd buy just isnt worth the price, even if 200€ with SMBWii isnt thaaaat bad..

So yeah, long storie's short, i need your honest opinion, not as a Wii/Ninty Fanboy, but as a reasonable gamer.

Should i get a Wii the next weeks, and maybe stay there crying about the lack of RPGs, or should i wait for a real reason that makes me want it (maybe with a lower price then) and THEN get it?

im thankful for every opinion that is more than 'ZOMFGZG GET IT NAO NOOB!!'

Don`t. You´d be doing us (nintendo fans) and yourself a favor. You´d buy it to just bash it and sell it.

Well since you didn't like the wii in the first place, why buy it again and let it collect dust. The wii is big on first parties like zelda, metroid etc but you don't seem to like most of them. The wii isn't really big on third party supports anyways and that isn't gonna change with the wii. Well for an wii rpg I heard the last story was coming out in japan soon, no U.S. release date yet though. I still have my wii because I bought into the whole motion controller hype that was going on at that time and now my wii just collects dust. So I don't really see any point in shelling out the money for a wii right now.

no just pass on it

It sounds like i am not worth to have one. kinda cute, i guess. :D

@BloodyRain:

well, i like Metroid, aswell as Kirby and Zelda. So there would be Epic Yarn, Other M, and Skyward Sword. another Game i'd like to try (finally) would be Okami, and Monster Hunter tri, i think. (and SMBWii, which is included). that makes 5 more Games than it was some years ago.

And The Last Story is another point. its a Game from Mistwalker (Hail Sakaguchi! xD), and i hope it'll be great.

But.. thats it. And i fear that it sure will collect dust, if games of this kind arent coming after those i've listed. So, thanks for your posting, i'd like to see more input from you Wii owners. :)

(Fact is, that i definetly get one, but as i said, i didnt expect to get one right now, because buying a Console at this price point for just a hand full of Games..nah) i think Ninty's marketing is pretty well done by the way, when they make me consider getting one as a real option, lol. ^^

edit ~

@Berserk:

hmmh, i dont like such small posts. :<.. could you tell me why?

If it's RPG's you want you might wanna wait until The Last Story and XenoBlade are out or atleast has a release date, and the translation patch for Tales of Graces will take some more months I guess.

There are some RPG's available now but I don't know if they are enough for you. You have Tales of Symphonia 2 but that game has this slight problem: it's really bad . Then you have Fragile Dreams and Muramasa. Fragile Dreams is quite good if you don't want the most complex battle system ever. Muramasa is more of an Action RPG but it's good.

There's also this amazing game called Sakura Wars. It's an SRPG/Dating hybrid. And it's fun. The quote in my sig is from SW!

Hm, what else...Arc Rise Fantasia is out but only in America. I don't know if it's good enough to bother importing it (you can play imported games if you have the homebrew channel) though, but it's a very traditional JRPG (complete with horrid English voices...) if that's your cup of tea. It may or may not hit Europe next year and if it does it'll hopefully be with Japanese voices instead.

I know there's FFIV: The After Years on WiiWare, and on Virtual Console you can find classics such as Secret of Mana, Super Mario RPG and Ogre Battle.

That's...pretty much it, I think...

But...that Red Wii sure is good-looking. The problem is it's a limited edition and if you really want it I guess you should get it now or atleast soon. I see you have Metroid Prime 3 and if you liked that one I recommend getting Metroid Prime Trilogy unless you have already played the first ones, or you want to experience them again with MP3 controls! And give Metroid: Other M a chance as well! It needs it...badly.

Other than RPG's there's a ton of games coming that you may or may not be interested in. Donkey Kong is making his return, GoldenEye is returning as well (and has got some positive impressions) and Kirby will soon follow but not until next year for us Europeans...

Sonic Colours could be the best Sonic game in like half an eternity so don't miss that one if you ever liked Sonic, and Epic Mickey looks really promising as well.

Some other games already out you might wanna look into is Monster Hunter Tri, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Sin & Punishment and I recommend the Trauma series if you want a truly hardcore experience!

So, uh...yeah!

Look, It's simple, if you like gaming period, then buy it, eventhough it is weaker in graphics, The wii has a lot of options exclusively to it, Monster Hunter tri is a fantastic game, Tetsunoko vs Capcom, you can buy classics like No more heroes saga, red steel saga, A boy and his blob, Little king's story  all for under $20 plus you got Nintendo's games which is the most reliable company by far when it comes to pure, fun gaming. even if you are an xbox fan or PS3 don't deny yourself of a great system

That red Wii does look pretty damn sexy. If you don't already have one, a Wii with NSMB Wii, Wii Sports, and motion plus for 200 bucks seems like a no brainer to me. I would buy it myself if I didn't already have two (one for me/homebrew, one for the rest of the family).

Plus Donkey Kong Country and Goldeneye are coming soon!

Damn, how could I forgot Little King's Story...that game is awsome! I've spent 50 hours or something on it already.

You can buy it and later sell it for more than 200$(or whatever currency our country has) since this is a limited edition.

Or use it as a Ipod charger iono.
