Forums - Microsoft - UK Kinect pr-order stock increased? Midnight launches confirmed!

TRios_Zen said:

American pre-orders charts here belie the hype I see elsewhere for kinect.  Maybe I'm  not reading it right, but 140K pre-orders for the states seems pretty low.

Regardless that is off-topic.  Does look to have a massive opening in UK!

I'll have mine Thursday so I'll try to post some impressions Thursday or Friday.

PRE-ORDERS numbers are for stand alone units and they have not been able to keep up with stand alone unit pre-orders. They won't come out and produce millions in the first month. They will wait for production cost to come down to meet demand.

One thing we also don't know is how many xbox 360 kinect units are pre-ordered or going to sell.  Also how many are bundled or not bundled. I also expect them to not let all of them be pre-ordered. So we will see what the sales are from units and sales of kinect adventure when the data comes out.

Game took my cash today from my account. Wonder if that means they will send it early?

My God, it's amazing how the 360 is so popular in the UK.

Man, I want to see how well this thing takes off in the US, Canada, and UK. Suspense is killing me.

I think those 3 countries are a certainty for huge numbers.... its elsewhere that could be difficult.

I live in elsewhere. Elsewhere is great.

I don't know how the laws work in Europe but I know in the US a place cannot actually charge you until you receive (or they ship) the item.

That's what I told the music site that charged me for a $500 guitar before they shipped it. That was on an order the service dept. admitted they didn't have in stock and would take 3-4 weeks to stock. The charge showed up 2 days later and six weeks later, they still didn't have it.

They finally recredited my account after I sent them numerous unanswered e-mails that they were putting the situation in the hands of Citibank for a billed but unfulfilled order.

The downside was I still have no guitar and paid off a credit bill for an unfulfilled order. The upside is I now have a debit on my credit acount. But still no guitar.

It's guaranteed that the initial shipment is sold out so the numbers for week 1 will be entirely dependent upon how many units MS was able to ship to retail.

I'm thinking 500k WW.

Then that site is doing it wrong.  A website cannot charge you until they ship you the product, that is actually a really big deal.  The Wife works for a marketing company and she's a project manager for the team that builds website and a lot of them are ecommrce sites.  One time I guy accidently pushed code that let people buy phones before the company was actually able to ship them.  Long story short, the guy was very quickly fired because that was a very huge mistake.

They can notify your credit card company and set the charge as pending, but they can't actually charge you until the item ships to you.
