Forums - Sony - Sony Q2 FY2010 Earnings Announcement - Official Thread

This is one of the greatest comeback being mounted by Sony as we speak. Instead of focusing on the few big markets MS is doing right now, they went deep into emerging newer markets, and that has allowed them to really get so close to MS. Amazing, and they made a profit.

We are having a sexy  party once the PS3 becomes # 2 .

Oh My God!!!

I like a true fan doesn't expect that.

GAP is now under 3 million... Slim and Reach had no effect.

15m fiscal year? Likely.

It's MS's highest ever non holiday Q, how has it had "no effect"?

No effect on PS3 sales.

Given the countrys Slim/Reach did well in, (360 outselling PS3 there) you can't be remotely sure of that.

Sony stock has fallen by 1.36%, this is in spite of increasing profit forecast.

For reference, the Nikkei 225 is flat.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

On PS3 sales.

I edited my post for the haters.

I don't understand what you guys mean by saying "overstuff the channel." Don't retailers decide how many PS3 consoles to order?? Sony can't just force retilers to buy the PS3. Either way i guess most of you are surprised that there is a world beyond the americas, europe, austraila, and japan. There are countries such as Brazil, India, zew zealand, south africa etc. Sony is taking advantage of those smaller markets and I guess it is paying off.

PS3 is probably a lock to pass the Xbox 360 in sales by next March. Can't say I'm surprised.

Does anybody remember at E3 2008, when Microsoft stated that they would "outsell the Ps3 this generation"?

Link to that statement: http://www.gamepro.com/article/news/...ps3-worldwide/

"Xbox 360 will sell more consoles worldwide this generation than PlayStation 3," said Don Mattrick, senior vice president of Microsoft's Xbox division, during the company's E3 press briefing on Monday.

In addition to its one year availability head start over PS3, Microsoft said the following upcoming games will be more than enough for the Xbox 360 to retain the lead: Gears of War 2, Resident Evil 5, Fable 2, Fallout 3, a two month timed-exclusive for Rock Band 2, and the
newly announced port of Final Fantasy XIII.

Currently, Microsoft has sold an estimated 20 million Xbox 360s worldwide, compared to Sony's 14 million PS3s, and Nintendo's 28 million Wiis.

They arent wrong yet and we dont know if will ever be.
