Your monitor is probably DVI D

Male DVI connector pins (view of plug)
Male M1-DA connector pins (view of plug)
Color coded female DVI connector with pin descriptions (Click image to see descriptions)

Which doesn't support analog signals.. which DVI I does...

find a vga box to hook up your snes/n64..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

i bought a usb adaptar which converted the analog signal so you could play the game over vlc player or something that is like that. costs like 10 bucks about a year or two ago

I edited my post....its actually a vga to component cable?

its a vga to componet cable, so if that isnt working can someone post a link to ebay for something that would work

You need a composite to VGA adapter most likely. Google that...

The one you listed is component which is no good for snes and n64

I'm going to ask some hopefully dumb questions, but they are honest mistakes that most people would make.

I'm assuming since you bought a VGA cable that you are plugging it into a monitor that takes VGA. In other words you aren't plugging this cable into a DVI adapter are you?

Are you actually using component (red/green/blue for video, red/white for audio) cables? The SNES and N64 originally came with Composite (yellow for video, red/white for audio).

Assuming that you are indeed using component and you are indeed plugging into your monitor via VGA, does your monitor support 480i? If it doesn't, then you might need an upscaller.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

the SNES and N64 did support component, they just didn't ship with it. The cable was pretty much only available from Nintendo for like $40.

The only component cable I can remember which may work with snes and n64 is the gamecube component cable...they all have the same plug afterall.

I think we need to establish wich connection the OP has for his systems...
