Forums - Sony - Alleged PSPhone leaked!

Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be another N-Gage..  Phones designed mainly for gaming, usually don't do too good. If anything, this might confuse the PSP userbase. They already have a PSP and PSP Go in the mix.

As for specs, it's probably as powerful as a Galaxy S.

Rather this is probably going to be exclusive to Japan or have very limited release by one carrier here in the states/Europe. I don't think it it will be that confusing. It would never have anywhere near the numbers sold has the PSP/PSPGo itself, but could prove as profitable as any sony ericsson phone, plus it could sell games.

People have to keep in mind that mobile phone gaming has been around in japan far longer than the iPhone has been in existence.

Not a bad idea. Mobile is eating everyone lunch. Putting PSN into their phones could actually work well enough, especially in japan. PSP2 is definitely not this.

I have a feeling what they are doing is a two pronged attack. Diversify the PSP1/PS1 games onto sony ericsson phones then come out with a game only device ala the PSP2. Unfortunately I think they will make the mistake of using UMD again for PSP2, which is going to limit it again. Though its possible they may also do two different versions of the PSP2 like they have now, with most games being released on PSN and UMD.

The PSPphone will probably not be capable of playing PSP2 games. But may have the added bonus of playing normal android games.

I do kinda like the idea of replacing the crap nubs with that long touchpad thingy.

they did that for the PSP and what we got was the PSPgo and look were that went lol

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

Doesn't matter. IPhone is moving to Verizon soon. IPhone is about to own the market even more than ever.

Are you getting mad or something? Sheesh. :/

If you honestly can't tell, it's not worth bothering. Go think about it a bit if you're serious.

Just winding you.

Really don't see what's funny about it though. It's a phone with PS branding.

Ah, well don't worry, I'm sure it's not even real, anyway.

It's real, it has Android, it's 1ghz with touchscreen, camera with flash, slim , a real laugh of a phone.

God of War on my PHONE, haha

Where did it not go that you thought it should have gone? People keep thinking it was an attempt to sell DS numbers, but I think it was just an alternative attempt to see what would fly.

I bought one and I like it better than my old PSP. I certainly have no qualms about not carrying 2 or 3 UMD discs around with me when I can carry my _entire_ library on my PSPGo. It's sad that some game developers don't want to pony up to get on PSN, but that's their loss. Very little that is UMD only is even worth bothering over and there are plenty of PS1/Mini games that are worth it.

Pure digital is where the bulk of games sales will be in the future. Most kids don't give a crap about physical media, they don't even give a crap about brands anymore. If old fogies want to stick with their antiquated physical copies of games, I'm sure SONY will do that using secure flash cards.

Just to repeat just in case no one read the post on the last page, this is not the PSP2, it's the Sony Ericsson side project. It's not even powerful enough to play PSP2 games.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
