Why did you buy the arcade version? Don't you kinda need the hard drive to play online?

also, sorry to see you have joined the rest of the 99.5% of 360 owners. Seriously, not to bash MS, even though its kinda hard not to when talking about the defect rate, does anyone know anyone that has:

A. owned their 360 for at least 6 months.
B. not broken.

I don't. I have 6 friends/co-workers with 360's. All have broken at least once. and 2 have broken more than once.

30% my ass.

yep mine broke after 11 months, so this one survived for a long time without dying

but my new one seems much better and it actually turns it self off if ut gets to hot and still works afterwards

I lol'd, good one libellule.

I'm sorry for your loss Mr. friedtofu, I saw my cousin's 360 die while we where playing FIFA a couple of weeks ago. Not cool.

I had my 360 for 14 months when it quit. I was soooo close to just buying another one but it came back in two weeks. It was hard to go back to my PS2. Now, I have a Wii and a DS Lite, so I'll be fine.

ok it seems that many last longer than 6mos. But, honestly, does anyone still think that the defect rate is less than 1/3rd? I don't. I think that it is much much higher. Maybe around 10% or less for the newer 65nm systems, but definitely a lot higher for the original versions.

I was wondering this: I usually play games for more than 10 hours a week, and I know it will be even more after Christmas with Mass Effect, COD 4 and Halo 3...

So anyways, will a Xbox 360 be able to survive over 30+ hours of gaming a week, for 2 weeks?

...

Yeah, I'm getting one for Christmas, and I intend to finish these three games in that same time period...! @_@

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

I have two close friends with 360s that are about a year old. One just red ringed yesterday, the other is chugging along. You're probably right, superchunk

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Come on superchunk failures are all anecdotal evidence. Who came up with the 30-33% figure anyway. I doubt we will ever actually know the real failure rate. As for more useless observations I know 4 people other than me with 360s one of which is a launch system none have RROD.

I have a second shipment system thats still chugging along just fine.

Dude I wouldn't worry to much about it, your covered for 3 years, just enjoy the 360 failure experiences. I haven't experienced a RRoD yet but if I do, so be it. I will man up and either buy another one or just wait till Microsoft fixes it and play my PS2.

Your getting the Arcade version right?

Well if so, the new Arcade 360's come with HDMI port and also a 65nm CPU chip. So its not going to stop the RRoD, because the main culprit is the GPU (poor cooling). Until Microsoft releases the new 65nm GPU, RRoD will still be in effect.
