Not all products use the counter. I am not stating what I am because I am trying to downplay anything of that is what you or Seece are thinking. I am just giving people an idea of how HSN operates. Do they have HSN in Canada? I ask because if they do then you too may have seen the many times where they have jewelry at 4x the normal price yet their counters make it appear to be a super fast seller. That Wii advert was also back around the time when Wii was selling boatloads, yet the counter was for a lower quantity and was selling at a much slower pace than the Kinect. Are we to assume that Kinect will sell more than the Wii did during the those holidays based on an HSN counter?
The post is not to diss the Kinect and I think some here are being a bit too sensitive. I am just providing a different perspective. |
I know what you're saying but when you bring up everything being staged and start questioning how their sales countdown works it comes across as you trying to cast doubt on the amount of sales Kinect was receiving. Otherwise I see no real reason to even mention it.
The countdown may not be real time but for a channel that is trying to sell products it makes no sense to tell everyone "hey, sorry we're sold out!" because at that point people stop ordering and then the HSN is left with product. They announced they were sold out before the segment was over. I have no reason to doubt they didn't sell that many.
At the same time I found the whole piece fascinating and hilarious at the same time. Interesting how quickly they managed to sell them but hilarious in the amount of mangled or often misleading information! "WE'RE giving you 30 days of Xbox live....for FREE!". Yeah, that comes in the box, how generous lol.
