Forums - Sony - Hacked psn account, $150 in games on my cc

The same thing just happened to me. $150 charged on the account, e-mail changed, etc. Basically the exact same thing. Never shared my account, never replied to those phishing e-mails, etc. I found this post by googling to see if I was the only one who got his account stolen and I found about 6 mentions of accounts mysteriously being charged $150 between Oct. 20 and today. Good to know calling Customer's Service works though.

Literally the same thing just happened to me. Woke up this morning, got the same email. I'll have to call them this afternoon. I ALSO GOOGLED IT. zomg, the plot thickens. GL to anyone else this happens to.

Looks like this is something going around...

this is why I use PSN/XBL cards

A.) I'm taking my CC off my account tonite

B.) Don't you guys have it where you need to use a password to charge anything through your psn account?

1. You must have let out some info to let others get your pw.

2. This is why I don't attach payment methods to any site.

yes glad i wasnt the only person suspecting. I find it highly unlikely somebody got both a email and pasword buy themselves.

I suppose, but this feels strange as I don't remember sharing this particular password to _anyone_.

I just don't get it. I'm not familiar with game sharing either.

You likely fell for a phishing scam.

1. Next time you sign in anywhere, make sure you're signing in on the actual site.

2. The next time you see something that's too good to be true (like get a free PSN game!), it probably is.  Don't bother clicking it.

Yea, I'd say it has something to do with saying, "Sign in with your PSN account info and get a full game for FREE!!!", then they log into your account and charge up the card.

The only problem i hate with buying/using PSN prepaid cards are the leftover money and the taxes.  Like if you buy a $19.99 game, you cant buy a $20 PSN card, you gotta buy a $20 and another $20, or just a whole $50 prepaid card.

If buying via prepaid card were tax-free then i'm all for it.

heh, sucks to be american

In europe prices have to include taxes, so a €20 PSN card can buy you €20 PSN games.

It doesn't such.  We don't even have sales tax in New Hampshire.

Seriously? 30 MINUTES??

That's ridiculously fast, I got hacked once, lost ~100€. Didn't call Sony for a while, tried to contact Konami because the hacker had bought expansions packs for his Konami Account, so they'd be able to track him pretty quickly. I mailed them, told 'em what happened, and said that I'd give 'em any information in order to track whoever hacked me. They replied relatively quickly (2 days later) asking for some of my Online info (not the credit card tho). So I started to wonder, why didn't they just ask me the last digits of my credit card? Two weeks later or so (took 'em a while), after a couple of messages, once again, with pretty bad english, and it wasn't my fault, even my english m8s lol'd at it, they replied "URHHH HUR DURP, YOUR ACCOUNT DOES NOT LOOK HACKDZ, SAYS U BOUGHT 2 EXPANSIONS PACKS, 2 EXTRA CHARACTERS SLOTS AND 1 CODEC VOICE PACK HURR." So I politely wrote 'em, another mail, explaining 'em HOW THAT'S MY ACCOUNT - MINE - BECAUSE I ALSO PLAY MGO. And explained as well, how they managed to waste 2 god damn weeks to simply check something I'm pretty sure it doesn't even require special access on the website. Sent the same mail I wrote on the first time, where it specifically said it was mine PSN account that had gotten hacked, and asked if it was possible for 'em to track the hacker. I also told 'em I was going on vacations, and I wouldn't be able to reply for at least 2 weeks. 4 FUCKING MONTHS LATER, THEY REMEMBER TO REPLY:

"Dear Nuno,

Thank you very much for contacting the Konami customer support team.

We sincerely apologise for the late reply.

Unfortunatly we may not assist you in this matter as you reported your PSN to

be hacked.

We have to suggest you to inform the support of the Sony PSN as they may be

able to help you.

Thank you very much for your understanding."

So basically, after stupidity, auto-replies, lazyness, they tell me they can't do what I asked 'em on my very first mail and advice me to contact Sony. Yes, because that's what I would have done if I knew how stupid they were.

Simply gave up, didn't try to contact Sony, it would take alot of time and they'd start to question me why I was only contacting 'em at that moment and not before and probably question why my PSN account's info doesn't match my real info and all. That was... an year and half ago. Doubt that today I have any chances of getting the money back, I regret not having called Sony :[

This prompted me to delete my info off of my account. Glad you got your money back.
