i was reading some articles on the original xbox and how come micrsoft got into the gaming industry it started in 1998  when sony was touting the playstation 2 bill gates wanted to joint sony and co developed or help sony out on the ps2 because of gates image of what he did about ibm in the past how he got the company millions  he wanted to show he was a good guy but sony denied and didnt Want to be associated with bill gates so gates started asking developers what they wanted into a console to develop for and bill hired robbie bach j allerd etc to make it and they showed it off at the mgm  in vegas boxing ring in 2001

Hmm, not the story I heard. Long story short, I heard they wanted to move "into the living room" because they already dominated the office of the home. And were afraid that is living room systems got advanced enough, people would forget their PCs.
