Takashi Ikegami, manager at Hal, thinks the idea behind Kirby's Epic Yarn is so good that it could be rolled out for other Nintendo heroes such as Mario.

Speaking during the latest Iwata Asks discussion, Ikegami - who worked on Kirby's Epic Yarn's sound - spoke of his reaction when he first clapped his eyes upon the game's visuals. 

"When I first saw them, I thought they were perfect for Kirby. I think there's a lot of potential for expanding this style to other series, like making a game called Mario's Epic Yarn. That's how well I thought the foundation had been laid, so I was really happy that from among all the characters available it was Kirby who was chosen."

In fact, he liked the idea of a world of yarn so much, he wished he'd thought of it first. "I also thought, "Aw man!" Envy as a creator that we hadn't thought of it first followed my initial joy," said Ikegami.

So do you think the idea should be used for other Nintendo stars? Do you like the idea of Mario's Epic Yarn? Or perhaps Link's Epic Yarn? Somehow we don't think Samus Aran's Epic Yarn would work!

To be honest, I think they should've made it a Yoshi game instead, and kept the HAL Kirby project going.  The mechanics would've fit better with Yoshi imo, as is the game doesn't feel all that much like Kirby anyway.

I think, graphically speaking, it would work. Mario fits they cutesy sort of game Kirby's Epic Yarn looks to be. I think DK and Toon Link/Young Link might also work. Metroid doesn't work, in my opinion.

Good point, Marios already been turned into some random object. Besides, he already has enough spin-off series. Keep in his own rather than leeching off one of his Nintendo pals.
