If you don't have a choice and you want to play online, you will. Because there are free options, you don't. Also, Xbox Live is $50-$60 better than the PSN. That's where this thread is headed. I just wanted to be the one to say it!

depends on the price, i put no because i probably wouldnt unless it was for the community. if the price got too high though, i assume there would be a rise in websites connecting players through VPNs to skirt the payment. games needing dedicated servers wouldnt get VPN access (the people running the server would get some hefty legal fines), but the ones that dont, like many shooters would start being run through VPNs, free to all :) lol

I personally wouldn't pay because no online for badassest it may be, its not worth of my money. I already buy the system and games, I don't wanna spend more money monthly to play on something I already have. My resources are limited and I have to spend it wisely. |
I guess it comes down to what you're paying to play online and how much you enjoy playing online games.
I don't have a lot of money but the cost is negligible to me. $50 - $60 a year ain't shit compared to the amount I waste through out the year. My gym membership a lone is like $350 a year.
Also, I like that its making the 360 a success. I'd like to see atleast one HD console get out of the red this gen.

I wouldn't play online for free, If I'm playing a 2 player game I want the person I'm playing with in the same room.
i barely play online on my PS3 and Wii, hell i barley play games these days, so no, i would not pay for online.
NO... i am to old to start changing things like that now... i have been playing on-line for 10 years for free and i am not going to change this great habit just because...

No, but then again, I'd also prefer to play a game with other people in the room and socialize with people I care about, rather than this random twat on the internet. And in a large enough game, there will be a twat. Diablo 1 is what ruined online gaming for me; I didn't like having to cheat just to play online. And from what I've heard (and seen) of the attitudes of many online gamers, things haven't changed much to be worth my while...

I've already paid for Xbox Live Gold. I'm most likely going to let my Xbox Live Gold subscription run out in February and just switch over to PSN for online multiplayer multi-plats. I've been trying to limit my gaming budget and XBL Gold is that one thing from my 2010 expenses that I can really do without for 2011. I've been playing more on XBL than PSN but I barely play online to begin with. I'm not that much of a competitive multiplayer gamer (playing against human competition is a whole different ballgame than facing a computer). I was playing EA Sports MMA online today and I swear my performance was so bad (big losing streak) that my will to keep at it was almost completely broken. lol. I was so close to mailing the game back to the rental place in frustration (I already finished with the offline having went through career mode twice and got all the offline achievements so I figured I might as well quit if I sucked that bad online). Human opponents are harder than computer opponents on the hardest difficulty setting.
