Forums - Gaming - The most incredible basketball game I've ever had.

(played on NBA 2k11)

In this game, there is a My Player mode where you follow the progress of just one guy as he goes through the NBA. You can't control the actions of any of the other players, or whether the coach decides to put you in the bench. You're expected to fulfill roles given to you at the start of each game.

Anyway, I'm 39 games in, as the starting small forward for Portland. We're at 28-24, 7th seed in the West. We were doing quite well considering, and I was averaging a decent 15 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists per game. Our next game was a home outing against Chicago. They're a tough team, and I had a rough experience in our previous meeting against Luol Deng. He torched me for 29 points and we lost. Before this rematch, I decided I'd have my revenge.

I went in with the mindset of shutting down Deng for good, and it worked out quite well. I stuck to him like glue and never allowed him to catch the ball. But Boozer was going crazy. Throughout the 4 quarters, I was playing equally crazy to match him. The game went back and forth, and the largest lead was only 5 points. With only 5 seconds left, we were leading by 3 points and felt secure about the win. Deng tried a quick layup but missed, leaving 2 seconds, but the offensive rebound went to Boozer who kicked it out to Brewer and hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer. Overtime!

In overtime the game was still close. We were down 2 points with about 15 seconds left. I decided to take the game into my own hands. I drove the lane in a crazy desperate attempt, collided with two defenders, and got a crazy reverse layup to go in, tying the game. Overtime again!

By this time, I started catching fire. I ended the fourth quarter with 20 points, but by the third overtime I had 36. All my shots seemed to be falling for some reason and I was really getting into the heat of the moment. With 7 seconds to go in the third overtime, we were down by 3. I pump faked and got Deng in the air, stepped back, and drained the 3 pointer at the buzzer. Overtime again!!

The AI was getting ruthless. Every time I caught the ball, I was double teamed. With 20 seconds left, the score was tied and I was trapped in a corner. I threw the ball to Andre Miller who had been ice cold the whole game (seriously, 20% field goal), but zomg he made the shot that put us up by 2! Chicago still had 8 seconds to go. They inbounded to Brewer who took a 3 pointer, and through my myriad of screams and prayers it missed! But Boozer got the rebound and put it up, but Marcus Camby came up with a miraculous block!

I jumped and pumped my fist in the air and hit our chandelier and almost broke the damn thing. I was sweating the whole time. My player finished with a career high 45 points (previously only 25), 13 rebounds, 14 assists, and 2 blocks. 4 overtimes, each ending with a surprise buzzerbeater. Can't get any better than that.

oh and the final score was 135-133.

Wow that sounds awesome...I'm not into sports game much but sounds like gonna have to get this one..

12 minute quarters, wish I had the dedication for that; I only play 6 myself but I'm still managing to average around 20/3/3 with my SG, though playing with Durant makes things a lot easier.
