Forums - Gaming - Is this your last Gen?

Hrm... probably not. But this isn't to mean that gaming has me in its clutches. Rather, there are only a handful of companies and another handful of games that keep me around. I actually wouldn't be surprised if I do not get any home consoles next gen, but I get both portables. Portables are easy to take with me whereever I go, and due to the lesser power of them (in contrast to the home consoles), more effort has to be put into gameplay than graphics. And I am certain that once everything goes to being an interactive movie, I'm out. Sadly, things seem to be rushing that way...

Well console wise? This could be my last as it was very disappointing. 3DS is something i might pick up... MIGHT...

I couldn't said it better than Cheebee. I've seen theards like these popping up on some other forums about 7 years ago that I used to go. It didn't crossed my mind that I would stop doing something that I enjoy since I was 5, but as the years passed by and now 25, experiencing what I'm going through now, I can see gaming can be stripped away from me rather than stopping.

Will this be my last gen, "God, I hope not!" But if I do, the only way I can still attach myself to gaming would be observing how it will develop and flourish from afar while still doing something productive in life. ;)

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

Something I forgot to mention earlier, I have found that with each gen I complete games less and less even though really in my view they have become easier and easier. Back in the old days before games had saves and before they held your hand I would spend hours at a time trying to complete a game like the Dizzy games. Not sure if they were really tough puzzles or if it was just my age at the time but games were properly hard back then.

I think part of the reason why I'm just happy to play more casually now is that I don't find much of a challenge in games nowadays with the exception of a few choice titles like Demon's Souls and a couple of the DS games like Prof. Layton

Yeah I feel my time as a hardcore gamer is coming to an end as well. I got kirby last week and I'm only like 2 hours into it. Between my full time job, full-time school, and my girlfriend I just don't have any time left. I want to get the 3ds as I can play it on my breaks at work or between classes at school but the other next gen consoles seem like it'd just be a waste a cash because I won't be able to play them anyway.

I have moved on to PC for the most part in the last year... I just tured 25 a week ago, and am deploying to Iraq soon... The PC will work well there during the downtime, movies, games, etc, all from one piece...

My Wife is pregnant right now, so I will prolly get the next gen for our little girl in a few years. Probably Nintendo since I can get alot of the good "other" games on the PC. And it will have to make sure my kids get into Zelda (so many fond memories of ALTTP and OoT)

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Where you going in Iraq. I was in Tikrit from 07 to 08? are you military or jusr government?

I'm not martin luther king. I don't have a dream. I have a plan

Sell a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you just ruined a perfect business opportunity.

We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.

I'll be gaming until I'm dead. Now whether its a lot or not much, only time will tell.

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

I'll probably be playing games until my fingers fall off!!! lol

Cant say much about timeframes on the internet for security reasons. 1st Deployment, I must say I am anxious to see what it will be like overthere.
