Forums - Nintendo - NES R.O.B was a 3D camera?

hmmm.

so why 2 eyes?

Wouldn't just one be enough to execute the flashing code like the DH light gun?

Just asking, this is a pointless question now, by what you're saying the eyes are some sort of "inverted" LEDs that capture light instead of emitting it.

Symmetry, people like it. Most likely either one eye was a fake, or both eyes lead to the same light sensor.

No, I don't mean it is some sort of inverted LED. There are devices that change their resistance based on the light that hits them (Photoresistors). ROB had a filter you could put on the TV if it was too bright, so I'm just guessing but that is probably what they used.

Most of this is just guesswork, but based on the technology of the time and how the system works it seems like a reasonable solution.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
