Forums - Sony - 1 Million Move Controllers Sold in America, 1.5 Million in Europe So Far

Afterall, with all these units shipped and with the problems finding them at retail.. Where would you proclaim the missing units are ? I heavily doubt that retailers are hiding the controllers.. :p

just throwing this out there, but retailers have hidden consoles before (namely the Wii back when it was constantly supply constrained). Not that I'm saying it is happening, just that it isn't that crazy of a theory if they don't think they are going to get supply for the holidays.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I just check a few online stores (Amazon CA, Futureshop, Bestbuy) and Move controllers are sold out for those stores. Maybe it is doing better than I expected. I'm glad I already brough 4 controllers for me and my brother already.

Though the bundles are available most places.. So they might have shipped more bundles than necessary compared to standalone controllers..

Same place where all those PS3 slims were last year during the shortage.  It was a big conspiracy and stores just had them in underground basements that go as deep as the geofront in Evangelion.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

But the game sales proof the Move sales.

- PS Move = 2500k shipped... so maybe 2000k sold (optimistic).

- The average is 2 Move per consumer (he can buy 1, 2, 3 or 4).

- So 1000 consumer with Move.

- 500k Sports Champions sold.

In other words 50% of the Move installed base bought the Sports Champions (bundled or not).

It's is fine for me... because some people don't want Sports Champions.

Why is it every time Sony reports a number people starts saying that Sony is stuffing the channels. Why would retailers buy a product from Sony if it is not selling?

Last Quarter Sony reported shipped numbers which were off from Vgchartz numbers and adjustments were made later on, nevertheless, people keeps coming up with stuffing the channels excuse. In the end, Vgchartz numbers are estimates  based on sampling and Sony numbers are real counted shipped numbers to retailers.

Something is not right about these numbers. What are people doing with their Move? using them as glow sticks, since the games don't seem to be selling at these numbers.

Either way, I hope the numbers are correct, so that more developers will create games for it.

don't forget move has backwards compatiblility.  i got sports champions with my move but already in my home was heavy rain and little big planet.  a bunch of other games previously released had move support too like resident evil and then there are the downloadable only games like tumble out too.  there's quite a bit to do with a move that doesn't require buying a game at retail.

Retailer's problem now, basically.  Oh, where to put these surplus Move controllers?!  Because the games sales show this.

Good for Sony though, for now at least.

Ooooooooooooooooor maybe people buy the Move to use for games they already own? You know, LBP (patched yet? Or be patched at all?), MAG, Heavy Rain. Aaaaaaaaaaand maybe some only buy games for Move on the PSN, like Tumble? Everything is not black and white, maybe for you. You know, some people actually manage to think outside the BOX (pun intended).

Ah, didn't see this thread.  Apparently Pachter underestimated Move's sales initially when he said it sold around 300k and below expectations:

"It's ahead of what I thought previously," said Michael Pachter, an analyst with Wedbush Securities. "I think that they are a lock to sell 3 to 4 million by Dec. 31, and a lock to hit more than 5 million by fiscal year end" on March 31.

This is good, correct?  That can't be perceived as bad right?
