"The environment we have right now allows us to drive motorcycles, but we need to get Gran Turismo 5 done first," Polyphony boss Kazunori Yamauchi told the latest issue of PSM3. "Once that's out of the way, if there's a strong demand for bikes, that's something we'd consider."

LOL.. is it finished or what?

guess not, I read some where there was a slight frame rate drop and they have been working on that.....

edit: found it http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=270424

that sounds.... pathetic, to be honest.

Basically he is saying that on some very very rare occasions it may "dip" below 60fps... dip? like to 50 or so fps... and thats the reason for the delay?  I'm not buying that at all.

this is Kaz and PD we're talking about, not saying I disagree with you, that would be total bullshit, but wouldn't be surprising if true

The problem is the Yamauchi san is to much of a perfectionist he wont allow a game to be released before he says it is finished witch double-edged sword on won hand it guarantees quality but on the other hand excessively long development times can harm your sales in the long run.

I'd rather have played GT5 lasy xmas and be playing GT6 with extras next xmas.  The development has been poorly managed imo.

considering the content in this game, I wouldn't say the development time was poorly manged, I'd rather have a full game in 5 years than a half game in 3, updates and dlc have become extremely over used this gen.

but this recent delay has caused a bit of question.

If the content was planned from early in development you would have a point but it wasn't.  They saw what competitors were including in their games and delayed the game to try and not be out done.  In my opinion they would have been better off getting the game out there then look to build for the sequel when they had more time to really strip the engine back and rebuild with all the content planned from the beginning.

That's my main concern with the management of the project is the way they seem to have gone from design to production, to hastily redesign and back again several times rather than just believing in the product they originally planned to make.

Maybe I've misundersood you but I didn't say the time had been mismanaged for GT5, I said the actual entire development process has been and I'm pretty certain a lot of industry professionals would agree in this regard.  I'm sure the game will be great but I think it cannot live up to the hype anymore even with the wealth of content.

yeah i strongly disagree, GT5 will exceed expectations and demolish the hype

Why won't you 'buy' that? Seeing that you tend to 'buy' whatever nonsense coming from certain other camps, you should really try to save up some money and 'buy' this "pile of shit", because it might be the real deal Kaz is selling it :D

Some devs actually put a lot of care into their games, and do not actually crown their own games as "king of X games" until it actually is the king, and Kaz wants this game to be the undisputed king. For Kaz, this takes time.

Take your time Kaz, make your game as good as you can. It's your work and you decide when it releases.

Fact for you

Released game > Unreleased game

It's time to let the project go and release it already.

Wow, that is some fact you dropped on me there... NOT.

Here's an 'ACTUAL FACT' for you:

More than half of the games released this gen should've been longer in development. That's why we're seeing all the bugs, all the patches and even the DLC. Because people like you can't wait for games to be released properly and the devs rush their games out.

Or maybe you were more than happy with, let's say Gears 2 online at launch? Or maybe you're happy with how the new Fallout is playing? If you answer yes on any of those questions, I won't waste anymore of my time on you.

I can play a released game, I cannot play a unreleased game so it is a fact no matter how much you dislike it.

I have no intention of picking up the new Fallout for now so I cannot comment on it.

I found Gears 2 fine for me at launch but then again I wasn't one of those people who bitched about the fact it wasn't Gears 1 and they couldn't run around never using anything but the shotgun or sniper rifle.  Sure there were some niggles but it wasn't hopelessly broken or unenjoyable to play.  The mistakes they made on Gears 2 could have been avoided with a beta which they are rectifying for Gears 3.  I actually think Gears 2 was more enjoyable around Title update 3 than it is now they've pandered to the shotgun crew.  I personally didn't have an issue with it being released as I didn't have the problems many did.  It wasn't the bugs that bothered people most, they just whined because they didn't want to adapt to the new playing style imo.

BTW - I cannot wait for the crow you'll be eating when all the GT5 bugs come out, and they will come.  Longer development time does not mean less bugs in any shape or form but you keep pretending thats the case if you like.
