Alright this is for the OP. I'm going to give you some quick tips on figures.
1. Most humans are 7 heads tall. What I mean by this is when you draw a head, stack 6 more underneath it and you have the overall height of the figure. Some people will be slightly taller, some will be slightly shorter, but 7 heads is a proportionate person.
2. The waist is around 3 heads down from the top of the first head. So what I mean is once you get the first head drawn measure two heads down and draw a horizontal line. The waist is not in the middle of the body since that will make legs look too short. Now as I said earlier not everyone has the exact same proportions but this will help with general drawings.
3. Babies are 5 heads tall. Babies always seem to have big heads because of this reason. Another thing is if you look at old paintings pre renaissance (sp?) the babies look like dwarfs instead of babies because they didn't understand this 5 head proportion and applied the 7 head to the babies.
4. Eyes are in the middle of the face. Sure it may not look like it because of hair, but when you draw your oval or round shape for the face draw a horizontal line across the center and a vertical line down the center. This gives you a guide for your eyes and the center of your nose.
Those are my quick tips to get you started. Keep practicing!
