Interesting, Samurai Heroes 3 Wii still hanging in there. |
I'm more surprised at Peace Walker. Perhaps it's the Monster Hunter tie-in and anticipation for MH3P.

Well PSP games performance iis Japan don't really surprise me, they do well. But the MH tie in surely helped as well.
I just had a further look at Samurai Warriors numbers in VGC and it is quite interesting (to me
). While the PS3 version sold much better than the Wii version, the sales patterns are quite different - Samurai Warriors on the WIi shows typical Wii game behavior even though it is a "hardcore" game:
For the PS3, Japan first week sales were 240k. The game then went on (in its 12 weeks of life so far) to sell a further 60% or so, and now it is at 389k.
The Wii version's first week sales were 51k. The game then went on to sell a further 120% or so, and now it is at 111k. So it started as one fifth of the sales of the PS3 version, and it is now on its way (though it hasn't arrived yet) to being one third of the PS3 sales.
Also, starting from week 9, the WIi version is consistently selling better than the PS3 version. No it won't pass the PS3 version or get close, but it is still an interesting pattern.
Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village
Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

isnt it normal trend we have seen in Wii and PS3 games sales.. i think the reason for these games selling more lately can be due to the reason that after all PS3 is getting constant stream of new titles.. and Wii have quite a draught.. so after all these 10M Wii owners have to buy something.. dont you think?

The issue with Basara 3 was that it was hugely undershipped for the Wii version... retailers underestimated demand and the Wii version was basically sold out continually it's first few weeks. Some retailers even put up signs "apologizing" for not having the Wii version in stock early on and promising shipments soon... makes you wonder how much of Wii's "hardcore problem" is due to retail availability and retailer orders... the mainstream is less likely to preorder (at least without heavy promotion telling them to, a la Mario/Pokemon/DQ/MH) which may also add to that lack of retailer confidence...
