I think Nintendo is holding back several key 64 titles and SNES titles waiting for the next generation. They want to give the next generation classics that the Wii didn't get and to do that they need to limit the amount of VC titles released!

I've been wondering myself if they were going to continue the Virtual Console to their next home console.

No doubt they will, and they'll probably add more systems (GC, DC, Saturn, etc).  The Wii VC will probably continue alongside it, and you'll be able to transfer your old purchases to Wii 2 (a la DSiWare to 3DS).

Around the Network

Anyway, looking at recent western ratings classifications boards, JP/EU releases and (the precious few) actual announcements, we can probably expect the US VC to also add in the coming months...

  • Rival Turf! (SNES) Jaleco
  • Super Bonk (SNES) Hudson
  • Super E.D.F.: Earth Defense Force (SNES) Jaleco

Notice theirs only a single Nintendo published title on that list. Nintendo still has what like 30 great games they could make availible if you include their N64, SNES and even NES titles. I also think your right the next console will probubly get DC,GameCube titles.

The reason why Nintendo hasn't put all their great games on the VC yet is probably that third party publishers have complained that Nintendo's classics take away too much of the sales, not just of other old games, but also of WiiWare stuff.

The usual problem and the usual two options: Either third parties make better games or Nintendo holds back. Well, the former isn't really an option for those third parties who are complaining the most about Nintendo games.

F**** third party...if they can't up their quality why should we suffer their crappy games
