I'm kinda worried that they're developing on a "True" next-gen system and a not-so true next-gen system. I wonder which of the games will suffer? Why a DS version?

Hey there, don't knock the DS and call it a "not-so true next-gen system," that's just plain mean.  The poor little thing does its best after all.

And what are your thoughts on the 360 version?  You completely ignored that one.  It's "next-gen" too you know.  Ignoring the 360, dissing the DS, and calling the Wii the only '"True" next-gen system'... shame on you.

Am I the only who initially thought the title said something about a Donkey Kong boxing game? =P

I don't think the DS version will affect any of the other versions, since it's going to be so different for several reasons. This is one of the few genres I don't like, so I'm not terribly interested.

You're not, but that would be a cool idea.  Luigi could be the first opponent and go down Glass Joe/Gabby J style.

Yoshi would be totally unfair though (stick a boxing glove on the end of his tongue...).

LOL...  The "True" next-gen system is obviously the 360, the "not-so next-gen" system is the Wii.

I am just worried what the game will look like.  The 360 version, will be remarkably different from the Wii verson (Graphics, and gameplay [Wii-mote vs. Controller]), and the DS version is very weird.  They are making three totally separate versions of the game.  The PS3 version is unsurprising, the install base isn't that huge, but for no PS2 version?  It BASICALLY has the same graphical capabilities as the Wii (I KNOW I'm going to receive a lot of flak for that comment) so why not port it over?

No thread about a new Wii game announcement would be complete without a sony fanboy trolling.

DMeisterJ: Show me a game that looks as good as Mario Galaxy on the ps2.

Just pay the whole development of ps3 games if you are angry because developers are losing faith on the system. Or buy all the software available for it to improve the poor SW sales.

@ Carlos710

I didn't say SMG, I said BASICALLY, that means there are exceptions to every rule. I'm not going to go into this argument again, because multi-plat games will never look THAT good on any system, greatest of all, the Wii, but I will say that SMG art style is unrivaled, but pure graphics, I would have to say GOW2 would definetly give SMG a run for it's money in terms of graphics, and even somewhat in art style, but this thread isn't about that. And in my post, I hardly mentioned the PS3, I was baffled at the lack of a PS2 version with a Wii version out there. The PS3 version I could forsee, but not no PS2 version. And no PS2 version but a DS version is just kicking someone when they're down.

As time passes, less and less developers will make games for the ps2. This is IMO the last good holiday for the ps2, so they won't have a lot of reasons to invest money developing more games for the system.

On the other hand, the Wii is going to be here for the next 8+ years, so it makes sense to start creating game engines 100% Wii optimized, in order to secure strong software sales in the future.

Just look at ubisoft. They used a last-gen engine for RedSteel and now they are trying to use a modified version of the Unreal engine 3 for Red Steel 2, at least according to rumors. If they are succesful they are going to have a nice engine for all their future Wii games.

And i think 2K sports is doing the same, starting to get their brand new Wii engines ready.

Oh no. I just imagined the box art, primly featuring Don King. *shivers*

No, you're not worried about what the game will look like because you already dismissed it in an earlier reply.
