UK studio Venom to create new franchise

Take Two continues to challenge Electronic Arts in the lucrative sports genre by signing boxing promoter Don King for a new franchise.

Don King Presents: Prizefighter is in development at 2K Sports' Venom Games, the team responsible for Ubisoft's Rocky titles.

"In all my years working in professional boxing, I have never seen anything come as close to creating the thrill, the intensity, the courage and the spectacle of the sport," commented King.

"Don King Presents: Prizefighter is more than a game - it is a glimpse at what life is like in and out of the ring for these incredible athletes."

Both 2K Games and EA Sports go head to head annually with ice hockey and basketball titles, and now 2K looks set to challenge EA's established Fight Night franchise.

Don King Presents: Prizefighter will be released in spring 2008 for the Xbox 360, Wii and DS.

Interesting no PSP,PS2 or PS3 version.
Maybe this will be the first worthing boxing game for Wii ( after Wii Boxe ).

what. 2k gave up on the PS3?

the good news here is not the game itself but the choice of platform.

i hope it turns out good

This is either going to be really good, or really bad. I'm kinda worried that they're developing on a "True" next-gen system and a not-so true next-gen system. I wonder which of the games will suffer? Why a DS version? Completly out of the blue. This game couldn't be that good, if it's coming out in four to six months and this is the first we've heard of it.

? whats up with no ps3 version.

Now you see why sales do matter....

^yeah sales matter alot for where developers will put there games

YES!!! it begins. All of the future developed 3rd party games will be primarily on the Wii then ported to 360. Just like last then with PS2 -> xBox. With a small percentage going to PS3/Gamecube respectively.

Also, The DS is getting a version simply because it has a userbase you just can't ignore.

The Wii/360 version will most likely be built ground up on Wii and have the waggle removed for the 360. i.e. best version will clearly be the Wii's.
