Forums - Gaming - Modern Warfare 2 now has more people online then Halo Reach now.

Where can you actually see how many people are online playing whatever game? Never found anything like that. All I can find are Major Nelson's blog for weekly live activity, and the most recent of that Ive found (Sept 20th) says Halo Reach has the most weekly unique users on the system.

Sorry to nitpick but since everyone has pointed out the answer to this, I gotta point out it's COD....thAn Halo Reach not thEn.

Because what you are saying is COD....Halo Reach not COD>>>Halo Reach. Sorry to nitpick but pet hate and what not...yeah, I'll see myself out shall I?

what the....

Okay, this is annoying me that I'm the only one who sees this.

the title of the thread reads

"Modern Warfare 2 now has more people online then Halo Reach now."

it should be

"Modern Warfare 2 now has more people online than Halo Reach now."

It pisses me off no end that this occurs more often on here THAN it needs to, same with your/you're and so on. Yes it's trivial but that's the whole point of pet hates.

No no I totally get all the rage over pet peeves....I mean every time I see a grammar nazi getting all uppity over a small little mistake I rage like a wilderbeast in heat <_< >_>

Actually, I'm not a grammar Nazi, I'm a spelling Nazi, subtle difference.

Also, not being funny but unless English is not your first language or you are under the age of say...11...there's really no excuse in this day and age. I'm sorry but it's true.

Wow way to be a complete jackass....

I did say it was a pet hate. If a person has Dyslexia or doesn't have English as a first language then there's nothing anyone can do about that. But it's my opinion and I stand by it. Sorry for derailing your thread.

It's actually an easy mistake to make, even when one does know the difference so settle down.

Considering how fast MW2 outsold Halo 3, that was when I thought MW2 is the biggest FPS game on X360. Now back then this was when we had little information on Black Ops and many thought it's Treyarch so pretty it's gonna be an average CoD and nothing compared to MW2.

Now we fast forward to the present day and we see Black Ops outpacing both Halo Reach and MW2 in pre orders and now I think it has a chance of 10 Mil on X360 alone. I'm not gonna say that Black Ops will outsell MW2 yet because I still believe that COD Sales have peaked because of MW2 but we'll see.

And I'm quite suprised actually that there are still more MW2 players than Halo Reach Players online... Didn't quite expect that at all. I thought Reach would be king till at least until Black Ops released.

One of my best friends in America has changed as well. Even up until the release of Halo ODST last year, he was all like "Halo 4 Life!!!" and would talk about how much he loved the Firefights in ODST... That was all until MW2 came out. He changed completely from a Halo fan to a CoD fan. I asked him back in Feb 2010 why he was still playing MW2 when Mass Effect 2 was out and he was like wtf is Mass Effect 2? Not long ago I asked how is Halo Reach (I surely assumed he got it) but he said he didn't get it and saving that money for Black Ops... Yep for him, MW2 was enough to completely change from a Halo to a CoD Fan.

Few years ago when there were talks about X360 between some friends, it used to be all about Halo 3 but now it's all about "Do you have COD?" "Late night COD session tonight over at my place".

Times have changed...

Yeah as a strong Halo lover I have to say Black Ops looks pretty awesome (I know I hate on MW2 all the time but I really don't hate it that much)

I really don't think any Halo game will ever be the king of FPS's on the 360 ever again.

I'd say inevitably it will become the king of fps on Xbox 360 again because Activison is more than likely to eventually shit all over Call of Duty and people will eventually get fed up with it and sales will dwindle like Guitar Hero. With Bungie leaving the helm though I'm no longer sure. 343 Industries have alot to live up to.

In my opinion if they did a Halo 4 sequel instead of Halo Reach I think it could have outsold MW2 week one. So many people I know were pissed of that Bungie were making a prequel where you don't play as Master Chief. To be honest I never thought of Master Chief much as a character but while playing Reach's campaign I was really hoping there would be a fight scene with him and my final ideal armory setup will resemble Mark VI Master Chief as much as possible. I already bought his voice for firefight.

Halo is far from dead, it's more popular than ever.

The highest amount of people I've seen in Halo 3  was about 800,000!

I noted that and my friend who was a halo fanatic and plays nothing but Halo 3... said that's crap... it used to be 2 million.

I think it's WAY to early to say anything... wait a few more months.

I can quite honestly say Halo 3 has never had 2 million people all online at once.

Even so... too early.  Especially when I saw almost 1 million people playing Halo 3 online once... that's 1 dedicated fanbase and Halo Reach is just getting started, give it a few more months.

But why would it jump like that especially with Black Ops coming soon....Halo Reach has been in a steady decline since the first weekend it was out where it peaked at 830kish.

I remember shortly after Halo 3 came out there were 1 million people on at a single time (this may have been pretty close to launch...it probs was)

The other night I was playing Reach and there were less than 150,000 people online, I was surprised.

My explanation would be Halo fans are still in love with Halo 3 (I don't blame em)... they've been playing it for the past 3 dam years... the transition is gonna take a awhile, more then 1 month I imagine. Remember Halo 2? People loved Halo 2 so much that when they shut down the servers... people wouldnt turn thier xbox's off just to keep playing... I'm sure youve heard about the epic gaming event. There's a lot of love for Halo... people have thier favorites... Halo 3 is/was the favorite and I think it's hard to say good bye ya know?

Another explanation is them getting beat in Halo Reach but in Halo 3 they were beasts.... you see Halo Reach plays much different then Halo 3 and well people don't like losing. So they go back to Halo 3 and forget Halo Reach because they just don't want to experience getting owned so bad. These people will eventually get back into Halo Reach, practice get better and will feel comfortable again. I heard so many people complain about this very problem.

Lastly... like so many people said... MW2 has "sold out"... Halo Reach just launched. More people have MW2.

Too Early.
