This year I've bought:
New: Halo Reach, Plants vs Zombies, UFC 2010, Okami, Resident evil 4.
And about 12 used games.
So around 17 so far.
Try Gamefly for a month and get another one free!
14 games so far. Most of the games I buy are from Amazon with that $10-20 credit for a future purchase. I still have one to use from buying Other M so that'll bring my 2010 total to 15 games.

I bought 13 retail games this year (includes bundles), 4 XBLA games (from a xbox 360 controller bundle. haven't bothered getting more points yet so that's all for now), 1 XBL Indie game and 1 Wiiware game.
I also got Portal (PC, downloaded from Steam) and Bejeweled 2 (PC, downloaded from PopCap Games' site for free) for free but I guess that doesn't count. lol. Still it's pretty awesome that you get free promotions like that.
I also rented 30 games (mail-in subscription service).
Given that renting allows me to play a huge glut of games, I'm going to cut back on purchases. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy anything game-related for the rest of the year. Renting can be a bit of a pain since often times you have to be patient for the popular games. But it's not necessarily a big deal if you don't get to day 1/week 1 shit. I was able to get FIFA 11 and Just Dance 2, two reasonably popular releases (the latter not so much with guys though. Which is probably why I got it so easily), shipped out to me within a week of release. That ain't bad. It's stuff like Halo: Reach, Fallout: New Vegas, Deadrising 2 and Medal of Honor where there is no chance in hell of you getting it sent to you. Fair enough. Just wait awhile until the popularity cools down and you'll eventually get those games. If my acquaintances bug me to play Call of Duty: Black Ops with them, MAYBE I'll give in to their damn peer pressure and get it. I'll see. If it's a single-player game, I can definitely wait. I'm not really one of those "I'm dying to play this as soon as it's out" gamers so renting works for me. The more quantity for your buck model that you get from a rental subscription is hard to pass up.
I don't have a set number of games I buy, just whatever looks good. A busy year might be 10 new games (full priced) or a quiet year might only be 5 games.
I'd say around I've bought around 15 this year, but only 2 of those released in 2010. Historically I buy many more games 2-5 years into a console's lifespan( Usually buy a console after first price cut).
I get 12-15 a year but if you count downloads it more
Counting retail games I have bought about 12-15 current generation games. Plus a few steam/psn games and several several older games.
I usually buy about one a month then more azt Christmas time. Probubly about 15 home console titles then I buy DS games and that brings the number around 20. Sometimes higher.
I wonder with all of us gamers buying so many games how can the attach rates still be so low. I mean 7 or so titles isn't that much considering some gamers have over 100 games on a single console. Wii makes alittle sense due to piracy but seriously what about the other consoles. Their attach rates should be like 15-20!

I know I bought ten games at one time in early January--and then I turned around and bought Bayonetta. I probably buy somewhere in the area of 50 games a year. Many of them are used/older games, though. I probably buy about 10 full priced non-DLC games per year (I'll count just to make sure).
*edit*
2010 games:
It's late October and I've bought twelve games released in 2010. I bought a slew of games released in late 2009 like Assassins Creed 2 and GTA: Episodes, too but those (and others) are harder to track. If that pattern holds, I'll probably buy at least two more 2010 games before the end of this year (Fable 3 is a given).
