Forums - General - PS3 won't play HD audio

Ok, I like to watch movies on my TV, and the only medium I have is my PS3 to play it. Before, I could easily watch a movie that had HD visuals on my PS3. The video is never a problem though. It's the sound. I don't know if an update caused it, but whenever I download a movie that's HD (psuedo HD actually cause the resolution is like 1280x544 or 1280x640), the sound doesn't play.

Now, if I hit the R2 trigger and speed the movie up to 1.5x normal speed, the sound works, but not at normal speed. Wtf? Any regular quality video works just fine, but when I go to demonoid and get a movie that looks HD on my TV, the sound doesn't work like it should. Anyone else have this problem? Cause it's really annoying

I found this on google, does it work?

One of the many reasons games take up so much space on the BR is due to HD audio.

PS3 does indeed do HD audio, but I'm not sure what your problem is.

I checked the file info on the PS3. For the HD movies, the bitrate of the audio is higher than regular quality movies, but the codec is still the same. AAC for audio.

I just don't understand why the sound will play when the video is sped up, but won't when it's at normal speed

what do you mean, the sound will play?

Maybe it's something to do with your source?

Try a BR movie or something.
