@savior x  you got a point but to be fair they have flops on all kinda platforms the diff. between Wii and HDs is that they can at least get a hit on HD consoles. I think I can count on one hand how much core games that was made by a 3rd party that did gread numbers that was released in the past two years

@lordtheknight  but dont you see thats what they have been doing??? who do you think the carnival games, biggest loser, all those shovelware games are for??? When it comes to Wii the casual audience is much higher. lets be real here if Just Dance cost less to make than say a Final Fantasy game and it sells more than said FF game. YOu would be crazy not to do Just Dance on Wii. I think some core Wii gamers just have to accept that the Wii is not like the HD consoles, it was not supposed to be.  At this late stage in the game there are 2 things a Wii gamer can do. Put their Ninty dogma away and just buy a damn console that has more quality 3rd party support or convince the million of casuals to stop buying Just Dances and WiiWhatever and buy more MUramasa, Red Steel, etc. I think the 1st choice is easier

And I think I can count on one hand how many core games made by third parties that DESERVE great numbers.

@lordthenight  you cant lay all the blame on the 3rd parties. it BS Wii sold because of games like Wii sports and things like that. That is what sells on Wii. the blockbusters sell on HD. Even if they did manage to make more of these blockbuster games on Wii, because its so far behind the HDs in terms of overall power it would still be seen as inferior and it would sell better on the HD consoles anyway. And when 3rd parties do make an exclusive core game, it flops, hell Sin&Punishment flopped and thats about as core as you can get. I think some Wii gamers were trying to get away with buying a cheap console and thinking they were going to get the more bigger titles. thats like me buying a geo metro and being mad that it does not have all the features of a lexus. sometimes you get what you pay for

I'm just sick and tired of sob stories for the "poor sales deprived third parties" on Wii.These people are in a BUSINESS. If they can't get a game to sell, it's THEIR FAULT. Period. Ok, maybe some of the blame is on Nintendo as well for not working with them to make quality games and promote them better. But the finger should NOT be pointed at the consumers. It is their money and they are free to spend it as they please. If their game doesn't sell, there is a reason for it. The companies are supposed to please the consumers, not the other way around.

Too much Malstrom kool aid spilled all over this thread. Malstrom flavored kool aid is the thing to be drinking right now, but it will be interesting to see what flavor Malstrom changes it to if Nintendo ain't on top with the Wii 2.

I never quite get why people claim that Nintendo hasn't helped 3rd parties this gen.  IMO they've helped 3rd parties way more than either Sony or Microsoft.

- Nintendo fully advertised MH3 and published in the West, not only that but they let Capcom design the CCPro.

- DQ IX was fully marketed by Nintendo as well.

- Nintendo published Samurai Warriors 3 as well as Miyamoto developing a mini game for it

- What about Tenchu, again Nintendo pubished that

- NST assisted with RIDGE RACER DS

- They played a large party in Mario & Sonic and (I think) published it in Japan

- They published Trauma Centre, that probably wouldn't have been localised without Nintendo

- Motion Plus actually launched only with 3rd party games

- Retro assisted with Red Steel 2

- Intelligent developed DQWars for S-E

- I'm sure Nintendo helped with Jump Ultimate Stars

- Bonsai Barber probably wouldn't have got ads if it wasn't for Nintendo

Microsoft and Sony have never had any problems with 3rd party software, I think Nintendo needs to look at themselves and ask why.

I agree, if you want to really be an industry leader company you will always have to confront with yourself, see what doesn't work and then trying to find a way to fix it, even if the problem is not directly caused by your own fault.

To be honest, in this case I think that main problem is with 3rd parties, for not developing enough quaility games, but also Nintendo has it's own faults. A simple example, It's knowledged that on Wii there are some hyper-pouplar franchises (Like Mario and Wiigames), while others are unknown to most people (like metroid, and most 3rd party serious games), Nintendo could have easily put demo discs on it's popular game like wiisports resort or mariokartwii. Yes, that's not problem fixing solution, but it would have borught some good results imo.

Nintendo Wii has 60 million selling titles from 3rd parties. What's more, it also has many of other titles just hovering under that mark. It is worth nothing at this point also that the break even point on Wii is MUCH lower than on the HD consoles.

Yes, some titles do flop on Wii, but some titles also flop on the HD systems - just look at the recent releases, Dead Rising 2, Lost Planet 2, Enslaved and Castlevania. They have hardly lit things up have they? All of them had disappointing opening weeks.

On the subject of HotD and Madworld, they sold 720k and 550k respectively. Neither are bad figures - especially for HotD which no doubt had a low budget.

The break even point on games (excluding block buster titles) on the PS1 was around 30,000 units (this was Invisible Walls the other week) I can magine the break even point would be a lot highe ron the PS3 or 360, in fact for some games I would guess the break even point on those systems is over a million units (for major blockbuster titles).

The Wii has had success with third party games, just not the kind of third party games we've seen doing well on the other systems.

I find it quite odd though that when HD games flop, despite their huge budgets, a lot less is said than when a new edget IP like Madworld hits the Wii and doesn't do a million!

@mike intellivision  sin&punishment didnt do so hot. but Ninty dont usually fail

@metallicube what you think deserve what is an OPINION i dont think NSMBWii deserved anywhere near those sales but thats just me, but im not gonna moan about it and im tired of sob stories from core Wii owners crying that there not getting the games that HD guys are getting, even though Ninty themselves said the Wii would be completly different from the HDs and the fact that the majority of people who bought the Wii dont give a crap about our "core" games. 3rd parties have been making the Just Dances and the fitness that and that is what the majority Wii player wants. The vocal minority is just that a MINORITY it would be foolish to devote resources to them and not the actual majortiy

Third parties need to stop giving wii owners crappy games its that simple. They will never learn.

@GianCarmen  people need to stop buying those games as long as Just Dance sells millions of copies then thats what will be made for Wii, no different than the dozens of FPSs out there. Money talks, and has the loudest voice

You really need to see it in action with a group of college girls.

Almost as good as a group of kids, where you'd more likely seeing them in a brawl at some point.
