Analyst, Doug Creutz from Cowan & Company believes game releases in the US have not met sales expectations in September, which includes the massive Microsoft hit –  Halo: Reach.

Creutz says Halo: Reach managed 3.3 million units during the month going on the latest NPD figures, which was well below Cowan’s estimate of 3.75 million, totalling around a 450k shortfall.

http://zombiegamer.co.za/analyst-says-halo-reach-sales-and-others-disappointin-us

So does that mean Reach failed? No. It means analysts are retards.

Yeah... Halo: Reach sold less than Halo 3.

But here is a Move thread, no?

The contents is irrelevant really, I'm merely pointing out that analysts make comments based on their own predictions and the results compared with said predictions. In this guys eyes Reach failed when the rest of the world sees otherwise.

All I'm saying is Pachter is no different and Move may have been "Well below expectations" compared to his predictions but that doesn't mean it is below sony's or anyone elses. The guy could have had unrealistic expectations.

I don't believe Pachter is the only analyst setting sales projections.

Ohhh wee!!! so now patcher is GOD after all the fanboys trashing him with his every statements about their beloved console before this!!!

Gotta love them fanboys always the first to FLIP FLOP when its not  their beloved console being critisized.

I humbly suggest you refrain from using the word "fanboy." Bans have been given for using this as all it does is inflame the debate to the point where rational individuals become irrational when one calls them on the carpet for their illogical, emotional ties to a brand.

Secondly, there are a lot more PS3 users on this site who are quite vocal than any other console. It has a lot to do with Sony pulling a 360 degree spin in sales with the PS3 from the PS1 and PS2 eras. Some people just don't like to lose and when they are losing, then they get more engaged.

Yeh true no more "fanboys" from here.

now what does "more ps3 users" has to do with the fact that other console fanatics are now rooting for Patcher because he's giving negative comments about PSmove while just a couple of months ago the same crowd  were trashing HIM for his comments about 360/Wii???????

remember the Wii HD prediction or Wii is in trouble? how about when he predicted PS3 will outsell 360? im not sure about this one but I remember he predicted HALO SERIES WAS "declining" there was a thread about it.

PPL trashed him badly on those threads  now all of a sudden WUUUZAA PATCHER IS GOD! because its not their beloved console being critisized?????

I criticize Pachter when he puts out shit that tries to manipulate and change perceptions.  For example " Nintendo is coming out with a WiiHD .

Apparently , according to Gaf , the best selling move game (eyepet) sold under 30k and all move's launch games sold well below 100k combined .

Oh and move hasn't sold anywhere near 1.5 million in Europe, again the software sales speak for themselves. Believe me a new hardware launch with 1.5 million units in its first month would have a gigantic effect on the software charts. Sony just threw a number , without explaining what it actually represents (starter bundles, all move accesories , shipped, sold e.t.c) OR QUOTING Charttrack (sony hates independent trackers and they are the only ones NEVER quoting chartrack when talking about Europe while nintendo and MS always do ,while they now don't mention NPD numbers in their PR about U.S) . Sony just prefers to throw BS numbers without meaning.

Sports Champions was the best selling Move game.  It's just that the bundled(Move bundle and PS3 bundle) software isn't included.  Yes it has sold(shipped) nearly 1.5 million in EMEA, according to Sony's figures.  What's your source for Move sales for the 100 countries that SCEE covers, or did you just pluck figures from your arse?

Where the hell did you see figures in my post , concerning Europe ?? The only figure that i posted is that ALL move launvh games combined sold less than 100k ACCORDING  to estimates on gaf with eyepet less than 30k and sports champion (and yes i know it is bundled in the U.S) less than 20k , in the U.S.

As for sony's laughable numbers , that we never know what exactly they represent, it is quite telling that they don't quote charttrack .

Sony is so desperate for some good numbers that they've become a joke, from hiding NPD numbers to not daring stating what charttrack has tracked when it comes to move. The next 2 months will be a nightmare for them . I predict that games like dance central and kinect sports will sell 5x of what the entire move launch line up sold in its first NPD, in their first month.

Pachter is pretty reliable on what has happened, as in past tense, because he has access to a lot of data.

His results are mixed on what will happen, as in future tense, because it's his opinion.

There is a big difference between the two but most aren't making that distinction.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

I think the big problem right now with move sales is Sony seems to be playing with the numbers.  we know 1.5 million units were sold but we're not being told an actual install base.  We can only assume that 1.5 million units is each individual piece of hardware so controller, sub controller, and camera all represent a seperate unit.  I would guess that means that the actual install base for move in Europe right now is somewhere in the 300,000 to 400,000 range.  I do think that is below sony expecatations but it should still be enough for them to reach an install base of over 1 to 2 million after the holidays.

This.

Sony was also pleased with PSP Go's performance after first month even though every analyst was down on it. I'm sure that's the case for Move now.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Yeah, cos I hear companies totally get away with outright lies

They mean shipped. If Sony release a number, it almost always means shipped, and if it is sold they will specify a source. If you re-read the original, you will see that it states 1.5 million move main hand controllers. No bullshit

1. Sony currently ships new units _by air_ (this was in the Bloomberg interview but gets neglected by every reporter because they don't see the significance of it). This fact alone tells you whatever percentage of currently manufactured units is not held back for Xmas season is completely sold through to resellers.

2 .Again, Sony sold mainly Starter Packs to distributors (first shipment to Germany was 70'000 Starter Packs and 30'000 (Dildos Navs). Same distribution for Switzerland (and neighbouring countries it seems).

3. Again, Software is NOT a measure of how well move units were selling initially. Software was/is not bundled and many people are buying Starter Packs without additional Move-specific software.

4. johnglen.. there are a few things I'd like to say to you but all of them would get me permabanned instantly. Let's just say if you have nothing to say, don't say it here.

So in other words millions of people are buying move starter bundles but not one move game.

Unfortunately you can't hide from the software charts that are being released each week , just like you can't hide from NPD (concerning U.S sales) .  I know it hurts that companies like charttrack and NPD still exist but what can you do about it ??

I can't wait for kinect to be released so that we can see what effect  a REAL huge hardware launch has on the software charts (and i am not talking about the kinect adventures bundle game). The comparisons will be interesting  and the November/December NPD numbers will be...delicious...

Possibly the bit where you say Move hasn't sold anywhere near 1.5m in Europe.  Or have I misunderstood?

Also, in your 100k figure for all Move games, which are ESTIMATES(this is the bit you should be capitalising), have you added Tiger Woods, Ruse, RE5, HR and the PSN games?

What markets do charttrack cover?  Maybe they use their own internal numbers as that'll include all the territories in the region?
