Why compare the locked mode you can't access to the normal gameplay? Any game can be totally unforgiving if you make it so one tiny little hit kills you.

On normal Uncharted is fairly easy if you are any good at shooters. But, if you do die, you only go back like 30 seconds worth of gameplay. The final boss was rediculously easy with having any one wave of 4 badguys be a checkpoint. When you finally do get to the actual boss it is just a couple runs between boxes and a 3 button combo. You can't get much easier than that.

As for the original Mario, 3 lives sends you to the beginning of the game. That is a lot more punishing than any of the other games I listed above. While you can run through it in a single life and only stopping in maybe 5 stages, most people don't know the secrets. To those people the original mario bros is way more dificult than any of the games listed above.

PoP wasn't challeging at all. It was fun, but not challenging. I would have gotten a plat in a single playthrough if it wasn't for the fact that I didn't do the every combo trophy.

AC2 gives you effectively infinite life with medic packs and extremely powerful armer. You have to outright suck at the game to die. I die mostly by jumping off things I shouldn't, but meh. EDIT: let me add, that I generally didn't care how I performed because if I screwed up an assassination is restarted me all of 30 seconds back in the game.

I'm not saying Kirby is hard (I haven't played it), I'm saying complaining about it and how "hardcore gamers" won't like it is sorta rediculous when all of the games I listed above really aren't hard at all. Not many games are hard.

@norlead  if those people dont know the secrets to the original Mario bros. at this point then they arent gamers to begin with. its almost like not knowing how to do a hadouken.  I think of a dozen games that are harder than Mario 1. matter of fact video games in that era were generally MUCH harder than games of today. I could probably count on 2 hands how much games ive actually completly in the 8-16bit era

@norlead  IMHO you might be looking too hard at the IGN review. but then again we are talking about IGN so sometimes you gotta take what they say with a grain of salt

you don't have to look hard when 1/6th of the review is complaining about dificulty (or lack). I just read the opening paragraph and just had to shake my head and post over here.

After reading the whole review I was more dissapointed in the total lack of information.

@norlead  just read the review and I saw nothing wrong, there is 2 pages of info. they gave the game a 9, what more do you want???

Both games own Yoshi's story big time.

By the way, I'm so glad Nintendo keeps delivering it. Beautiful game. I just needed to know that it is Nintendo fun too.

I seriously thought I had read the whole thing. It wasn't until you said it was 2 pages that I double checked for a link to the first page.

Given I've seen other reviews that short I figured IGN sorta just dismissed the game and gave it a score.
