I know, the awards were a joke, and it was pretty lame.  I was going down the list of awards and this caught my eye.

 

Breakthrough Technology
Portal
Crysis
Halo 3

Rock Band 

 

Can anyone tell me what was so breakthrough about Halo 3?  Portal for sure, Rock Band maybe, but Halo 3.  This game was listed in several awards.  Just not getting it.

I am surprised that they didn't nominate Halo 3 for the best RPG, Platform and sport game!

its probably because it records every second of gameplay and lets you mess around with all the footage in the replay mode. i don't know if thats breakthrough technology though...to be honest i never even touched the replay mode when i played the game.

 Well I mean the ability to take your cardgame and play against people all over the world, and yeah the tech behind the eye itself is incredible :P meh, not a technical breakthough  by any means I suppose ;/

Honestly, I think you need to consider the Spike videogame awards on the same level as the Teen-Choice awards ... Certainly, as a developer you should be proud that some one has given you an award for your work but this doesn't mean that the award was particularly meaningful (or that there wasn't more worthwhile candidates).
