Um just throwing this out there, but why is everyone saying NIntendo will push the Wii past it's 5 year cycle that Nintendo has been using?  I mean I don't think they'll stop production soon, but a new console is coming to replace it sooner rather than later.  And why do I say this?  Cause NIntendo is replacing the bestest selling game machine of all time that's still selling better than every other gaming machine combined, in a few months.

Wow, that's made no sense whatsoever, Nintendo is less concerned about 5 year plans than sales and profits, the reason other Nintendo consoles died out so fast was because of sales, the NES survived much more than five years, because it sales continued strong.

If Wii has good sales, Nintendo will wait to release its  next console, if sales sag too far then they'll announce the next one

What do you mean that made no sense?  If Nintendo would replace the DS which is the best selling game machine ever, which is still selling more than most of the consoles combined, why would they not replace the Wii which isn't selling nearly as much?  Hell the Wii has been selling less than the PS3 right now everywhere.  What's the flawed logic?  Wouldn't your reasoning mean Nintendo would wait to replace the DS?  I'm not saying they're going to stop production of the Wii, just have its successor in line and ready to be shown. I mean the SNES was out along side the NES .  They probably won't show it this E3 cause Zelda has yet to release but after Zelda's release there's going to be a successor shown.

There is a reason they replaced the DS, while its sales are still strong, there are reasons to move to the 3DS, first off is piracy, another reason is the rise of smartphone gaming

And there's plenty of reasons to move on to a new console; low sales, piracy, rise of motion controles from "HD" gaming.

Rise of motion controls, lol, Move was an utter flop, low sales, lol its still overtracking the PS2, piracy is a much smaller issue on the Wii than the DS

So, once again, Wii iz d0med?

Yes, but this time it's Iwata who is saying it . He must have been reading too much Pachter.

not doomed, but concerned, holiday sales will answer the concerns

yes I know he doesn't say it's doomed, that was all part of the "Wii IZ d0med" joke. Personally I am not overly confident about holiday sales (mainly because of Kinect bundles but also Move once it's "holiday advertised" with a bundle), but we'll see. I think a lot depends on whether Donkey King would have an even remotely similar effect on Wii sales that NMSBWii did, everything else is just noise (same as last year, it's not the price cut that did it, it was the game).

Move has flopped, its flagship game is already below 100K in sales and falling

Heck it might not even get to a million

I wouldn't call it successful (or close to) up till now, but I suggest you wait for the holidays, PS3 Move bundles and a heavy holidays advertising campaign by Sony before coming to some longer tem conclusion. Even if you're right, it may be still eating from some of Wii's potential sales at least from the "hardcore" crowd, thus affecting WIi sales even if not successful by itself (some people may not buy Move but decide to put off buying a Wii while waiting for more incentive/games to buy Move). And I expect Kinect to be a success with the casual crowd during the Holidays and eat into Wii holiday sales even more, primarily due to the dance game. It's releasing so close to the holidays that even if it doesn't work as advertised or as people at leats expect it to (which remains to be seen), between the MS campaign and the media hype people won't notice until after the holidays if at all...

No, I think the only reason Wii is having problems is not because of Kinect and Move, both are destined to flop and flop hard, No Nintendo's problem is crappy games

Games like Galaxy 2, Other M, Skyward sword should never have been made, these flops have eaten away Nintendo resources without any positive effect on Nintendo momentum.

I hope Nintendo finally wises up after skyward sword flops, and finally gives up these foolish games, and gives the market what it wants, old school games, how many old school system sellers could have been released instead of wasting time and resources on games like Galaxy 2, other M and Skyward Sword, it boggles the mind how Nintendo has sabotaged its own momentum

Uhhh.... Galaxy 2 a flop and should never have been made? You lost me there.

As to Skyard Sword, it's only coming out next year, how can you call it a flop?

Galaxy 2 sold less than Galaxy one, was not a system seller and sold far, far less than NSMB, that's a flop

Skyward sword hasn't come out yet, but I'm almost 100% certain its not going to push consoles and  will sell worse than TP

I voted for "We need Super Wii" because I've heard the Wii been equated to the NES, and I really really really want the Super Wii to be like the SNES, which is my favorite gaming system ever.

I voted for that as well.  The SNES was my favorite console and I think the Nintendo Super Wii sounds kinda cool.  Lol

They need to advertise the shit out of Donkey Kong and Epic Mickey this christmas. Advertise it Everywhere! Come on Nintendo you have the money.

I think this will help the holiday sales as well.  Let's go Nintendo spend that Wii money!!

Of course Galaxy 2 sold far far less than NSMBWii, everybody knew it would. As to selling less than Galaxy, in its first 3 weeks it sold more, but guess what - they had different release months. Galaxy 2 came out end May, Galaxy 1 md November.... so in its 4th week sales exploded, due to Christmas. Galaxy 2 is doing fine. As to a system seller, while it didn't give any big push (after all it's a sequel of a game that most people who were interested in already had a Wii), I am certain that without it numbers would have been worse.

Skyward Sword - we still need to see how the game turns out. If it's a great game, it will sell consoles.
